Licensed to Burnside, Kentucky, it serves the south-central region of the state, specifically the Somerset and Lake Cumberland areas. Licensed to Somerset, Kentucky, United States, the station is currently owned by iHeart Media as part of a duopoly of five radio stations, along with Classic country station WSEK (910 AM), country station WSEK-FM (93.9 FM, classic rock station WJQQ (97.1 FM), and Top 40/CHR station WLLK-FM (102.3 FM). WSEK (910 kHz) is an AM radio station broadcasting a classic country music format. Licensed to Burnside, Kentucky, United States, the station is currently owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. History The station went on the air as WKEQ in 1984. The station was owned by a group headed by Greensburg, Kentucky native Lynn Pruitt. Somerset, Kentucky
Somerset is a home rule-class city in Pulaski County, Kentucky, United States. The city population was 11,924 according to the 2020 census. It is the seat of Pulaski County. History Somerset was first settled in 1798 by Thomas Hansford and received its name from Somerset County, New Jersey, where some of the early settlers had formerly lived. Somerset became the Pulaski County seat in 1802, and was incorporated as a city in 1887. A Civil War battle was fought in January 1862, at Mill Springs (now "Nancy") about west of Somerset, and a museum is at the site. A smaller battle was fought nearby at Dutton's Hill in 1863. In 1875 tracks for the Southern Railroad were completed and Somerset saw a population growth and an increase in industry. In the late 1930s and early 1940s, library services were provided by the pack horse library.
