WJZN (1400 AM) is a radio station licensed to serve Augusta, Maine, United States. The station, established in 1932 as WRDO, is owned by Townsquare Media; it broadcast an alternative rock format simulcast from WCYY in Portland prior to going silent in May 2023. WPOR (101.9 FM) is a radio station in Portland, Maine, that broadcasts a country music radio format. It is owned by Saga Communications. History WPOR has had the same format since it signed on as an FM simulcast of 1490 WPOR, now WBAE, on October 31, 1967. WPOR was owned by Hildreth Broadcasting Corporation at that time. On March 2, 1971 WPOR and WPOR-FM were sold to Ocean Coast Properties. 25 years later in March 1996 WPOR and WPOR-FM were sold again, this time to current owner Saga Communications for $10 million. Middle of the road (also known by its acronym MOR) is a commercial radio format. Music associated with this term is strongly melodic and uses techniques of vocal harmony and light orchestral arrangements. The format was similar to soft adult contemporary. Usually unlike dead air (broadcasting only silence), a station that is dark or silent does not even transmit a carrier wave, carrier signal.
