WJW (TV)
WJW (channel 8) is a television station in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, affiliated with the Fox network. It is owned by Nexstar Media Group alongside independent WBNX-TV (channel 55). The two stations share studios on Dick Goddard Way (previously South Marginal Road) northeast of downtown Cleveland; WJW's transmitter is located in suburban Parma, Ohio. WJW was the third television station to sign on in Cleveland as WXEL, the first station to be built by Herbert Mayer, founder of the Empire Coil Company. WXEL began on channel 9 on December 17, 1949, two years to the date of WEWS-TV's sign-on. Initially a DuMont affiliate with select ABC and CBS programs, WXEL placed an emphasis on locally produced programming, originally from their studios and transmitter site in Parma and later from a renovated former movie theatre in Playhouse Square. WKNR (850 AM) – branded as ''850 ESPN Cleveland'' – is a commercial sports radio station licensed to Cleveland, Ohio, serving Greater Cleveland. Owned by Good Karma Brands, WKNR is the Cleveland affiliate for ESPN Radio and the AM flagship station for the Cleveland Browns Radio Network; the Cleveland affiliate for the Ohio State Sports Network, and the radio home of Je'Rod Cherry and Tony Grossi. The WKNR studios are currently located in the East Bank of The Flats in Downtown Cleveland, while the transmitter resides in the Cleveland suburb of North Royalton. WKNR’s daytime signal can be heard as far as Mansfield, and even as far as Newark and Zanesville. In addition to a standard analog transmission, WKNR is available online. WQAL (104.1 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Cleveland, Ohio, United States, featuring a hot adult contemporary format known as "Q104". Owned by Audacy, Inc., the station serves Greater Cleveland and surrounding Northeast Ohio. WQAL's studios are located at the Halle Building in Downtown Cleveland, and the transmitter is in North Royalton.
