WFGA (106.7 FM, "Real Country 106.7") is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Hicksville, Ohio. Owned by Swick Broadcasting Company, Inc., it broadcasts a classic country format. Its studios are located in Auburn, Indiana, and its transmitter is in Butler, Indiana. History The station began broadcasting on January 25, 2002 as WFJZ, with a satellite-fed smooth jazz format targeting the Fort Wayne market. Due to its poor signal in Fort Wayne proper, WFJZ was never very successful there, and on May 27, 2005, the station debuted an adult hits format and new call sign as WFGA, '' Froggy 106.7''. Construction of a new tower was completed in Butler, Indiana in January 2010. The station subsequently moved its transmitter to the new facility on January 14, 2010, although it remains formally licensed to Hicksville. WKJG
WKJG (1380 AM; "1380 The Fan") is a radio station located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The station, owned by Federated Media, is Fort Wayne's Fox Sports Radio affiliate. History WKJG began broadcasting November 15, 1947 under the ownership of Northeastern Indiana Broadcasting, itself controlled by William Kunkel. Kunkel was also the publisher of ''The Journal Gazette''; the call letters are derived from both entities. Initially a Mutual affiliate, WKJG joined NBC Radio in 1956, after WOWO dropped NBC to go independent; this brought the station in line with sister station WKJG-TV (channel 33), which had been an NBC-TV affiliate since going on the air in 1953. Auburn, Indiana
Auburn is a city in DeKalb County, Indiana, United States. The population was 13,820 at the 2020 census. Founded in 1836 by Wesley Park (1811–1868), the city is the county seat of DeKalb County. Auburn is also known as Home of the Classics. History Auburn's site on Cedar Creek was chosen by Wesley Park and John Badlam Howe at the intersection of two major trails, Goshen-Defiance Road and Coldwater Road, and next to the land of John Houlton. Stunting is a type of publicity stunt in radio broadcasting, where a station—abruptly and often without advance announcement—begins to air content that is seemingly uncharacteristic compared to what is normally played. Froggy (brand)
Froggy is a brand name radio format used for a variety of radio stations in the United States, most of which broadcast a country music format, with a few playing adult contemporary. (There was, however, an oldies-themed "Froggy" in Erie, Pennsylvania: the former WFGO; that station has since changed format and calls in 2007. Butler is a city in DeKalb County, Indiana, United States. The population was 2,684 at the 2010 census. History Butler was platted in 1856 when the railroad was extended to that point. It was likely named for David Butler, a pioneer. Butler was incorporated as a town in 1866, and as a city in 1903.
