Vinjeronden
Vinjeronden is a mountain in Innlandet county, Norway. It is one of the ten mountains in the Rondane mountain range measuring over in height. The mountain is a tri-point that lies on the border of the three municipalities of Dovre, Folldal, and Sel. The mountain Rondeslottet lies immediately to the north, the mountains Storronden and Rondvasshøgde lie to the southeast, and Svartnuten lies to the southwest. The mountain is easily accessed by hiking from the Rondvassbu tourist cabin (run by the Norwegian Mountain Touring Association), on the way from Rondvassbu to Rondeslottet, which is the highest mountain in Rondane. Name The first part of the mountain name comes from the poet and writer Aasmund Olavsson Vinje. The last part of the name comes from the word which was probably the original name of the nearby lake Rondvatnet. Many of the mountains near the lake were then named after this lake. Rondane
Rondane National Park ( no, Rondane nasjonalpark) is the oldest national park in Norway, having been established on 21 December 1962. The park is located in Innlandet county, in the municipalities of Dovre, Folldal, Sel, Nord-Fron, Sør-Fron, Stor-Elvdal, and Ringebu. The park contains ten peaks above , with the highest being Rondeslottet at an altitude of . The park is an important habitat for herds of wild reindeer. Storronden is a mountain in Sel Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The tall mountain is located in the Rondane mountains within Rondane National Park. The mountain sits about northeast of the town of Otta. Rondslottet is the highest mountain in the Rondane mountain range in Innlandet county, Norway. The tall mountain sits on the border between Dovre Municipality and Folldal Municipality, just north of the border with Sel Municipality. There is a trail leading to the summit. Name The first part of the name comes from the word which was probably the original name of the nearby lake Rondvatnet. Many of the mountains near the lake were then named after this lake. Norwegian Mountain Touring Association
The Norwegian Trekking Association ( no, Den norske turistforening, DNT) is a Norwegian association which maintains mountain trails and cabins in Norway. The association was founded on 21 January 1868 with the scope "to help and develop tourism in this country". Today the goal is to work for simple, secure and environmentally friendly outdoor activities. DNT has currently more than 300,000 individual members, and 57 local chapters. Rondvatnet
Rondvatnet is a lake in Sel Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The lake is a long, narrow lake in Rondane National Park, about northeast of the town of Otta. The Norwegian Mountain Touring Association's tourist cabins at Rondvassbu are located at the southern end of this lake. Rondvatnet separates the eastern part of Rondane from the western part which is the site of Smiubelgen. During the summer season, there is boat service on the lake transporting hikers between the southern and northern end. The Jutulhogget canyon is located near the southern end of the lake. Aasmund Olavsson Vinje
Aasmund Olavsson Vinje (6 April 1818 – 30 July 1870) was a Norwegian poet and journalist who is remembered for poetry, travel writing, and his pioneering use of Landsmål (now known as Nynorsk). Background Vinje was born into a poor but well-read family in Vinje, Telemark. He had a voracious appetite for learning and supported himself in part by teaching. He earned his university entrance exam after attending the same school as Henrik Ibsen, studied law, and became an attorney. Career In 1858 Vinje founded the periodical ''Dølen'' (''The dales-man''), in which he published travel accounts and editorial comments on art, language and politics that serve as records for the period in which he lived.
