Villem Reiman (activist)
Villem Reiman (9 March 1861 Suure-Kõpu Parish – 25 May 1917 Kolga-Jaani) was an Estonian activist, historian, clergyman. In 1887 he graduated from Tartu University in religion. From 1890 to 1917 he was a pastor at Kolga-Jaani congregation. He was one of the founders of Estonian Students' Society (in 1886 its chairman). He was one of the founders of Estonian Literary Society (from 1907 to 1914 its chairman). He was one of the founders of Estonian National Museum in 1909. Villem Reiman
Villem Reimann (19 March 1906, Pärnu – 8 June 1992, Tallinn) was a Soviet and Estonian composer and pedagogue. From 1925 to 1927 he studied piano in Tallinn Conservatory. In 1933 he graduated from Tallinn Conservatory in composition speciality under instructor Artur Kapp, and in 1936 in piano specialty under Artur Lemba. From 1942 to 1992 he was a pedagogue of music theory subjects and chamber music in Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Since 1944 he was a member of Estonian Composers' Union. Estonian Students' Society
The Estonian Students' Society (; commonly used acronym: EÜS) is the largest and oldest all-male academical student society in Estonia, and is similar to the Baltic Germans, Baltic German student organizations known as German Student Corps, corporations (Corps) (not to be confused with US college fraternities). It was founded in 1870 at Tartu. It has over 900 members in Estonia and abroad. In 1881 the Society adopted blue, black and white as its colours. Its first flag was made in 1884 and this tricolour was later (1918) accepted as the Flag of Estonia, National Flag of Estonia. The original flag is still in existence. In the wake of the Estonian national awakening, many young Estonian intellectuals had ties to the EÜS, and the organization had impact beyond its borders. Estonian Literary Society (, abbreviated EKS) is an Estonian organization which aims are to popularize literature and literary science related to Estonia, and also to enhance cooperation between Estonian organizations and institutions related to literature. Estonian National Museum
The Estonian National Museum () founded 1909 in Tartu is a museum devoted to folklorist Jakob Hurt's heritage, to Estonian ethnography and folk art. The first items for the museum were originally collected in the latter part of the 19th century. The museum tracks the history, life and traditions of the Estonian people, presents the culture and history of other Finno-Ugric peoples, and the minorities in Estonia. It has a comprehensive display of the 19th century folk costumes from all regions of Estonia. The exhibition includes an extensive array of various handicrafts from hand-woven carpets and linen tablecloths to wood-carved beer tankards and other items illustrating the Estonian farmers' traditional lifestyle, fests and holidays.
