Viimsi Valla Lipp
Viimsi () is a small borough () in Harju County, Estonia, about northeast of the centre of Tallinn, just north of Tallinn's subdistrict Merivälja. Viimsi is the administrative centre of Viimsi Parish. As of the 2011 census, its population was 2,341. Viimsi Manor, which was established by St. Brigitta Nunnery (in Pirita), was first mentioned in 1471 as ''Wiems''. After the Great Northern War, the manor had multiple owners, among them the Stenbock, Buxhoeveden, Maydell and Schottländer families. After the dispossession in 1919 the manor was given to the commander-in-chief of the Estonian Army, General Johan Laidoner, who owned it until 1940. During World War II, it was used by the Red Army. Since 2001, the building has housed the National War Museum of Estonia (also the Museum of General Laidoner). Great Northern War
In the Great Northern War (1700–1721) a coalition led by the Tsardom of Russia successfully contested the supremacy of the Swedish Empire in Northern Europe, Northern, Central Europe, Central and Eastern Europe. The initial leaders of the anti-Swedish alliance were Peter the Great, Peter I of Russia, Frederick IV of Denmark, Frederick IV of Denmark–Norway and Augustus II the Strong of Electorate of Saxony, Saxony–Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, Poland–Lithuania. Frederick IV and Augustus II were defeated by Sweden, under Charles XII, and forced out of the alliance in 1700 and 1706 respectively, but rejoined it in 1709 after the defeat of Charles XII at the Battle of Poltava. Haabneeme
Haabneeme is a Populated places in Estonia, small borough () in Viimsi Parish, Harju County, in northern Estonia alongside Viimsi. It's located about northeast of the centre of Tallinn, on the eastern coast of Tallinn Bay. With a population of 5,634 (2011 Estonia Census, 2011 Census), Haabneeme is the largest settlement in the Viimsi Parish, municipality. Haabneeme was first mentioned in 1271 as ''Apones''. During the Middle Ages Haabneeme was settled by Estonian Swedes, Coastal Swedes. In the 1960s, Haabneeme garden city developed on both sides of the Rohuneeme road in the north. The central settlement was built from the 1960s to 1980s as the centre of the Kirov Collective Fishing Farm. In 1973 a new administrative building was opened. Miiduranna
Miiduranna is a village in Viimsi Parish, Harju County in northern Estonia. It is located about northeast of the centre of Tallinn, situated just northwest of Tallinn's subdistrict Merivälja, west of the settlement of Viimsi and south of Haabneeme, on the eastern coast of Tallinn Bay. As of the 2011 Estonian census, 2011 census, the settlement's population was 358. It is one of the wealthiest regions in Estonia. Half of the village's area is occupied by Miiduranna Harbour, which is connected to Maardu via railroad. The Reidikai submarine refueling structure is located in the harbour. Miiduranna was first mentioned in 1588 as ''Mitorannes''. Siim Kallas
Siim Kallas (; born 2 October 1948) is an Estonian former politician, having served as Prime Minister of Estonia and European Commissioner. From 1972-90 Kallas was a member of the CPSU (Communist Party of the Soviet Union). In 1987, Kallas was one of the authors of the IME plan for self-managing Estonia with Tiit Made, Edgar Savisaar and Mikk Titma. The plan proposed to make Estonia economically independent from the Soviet Union – adopting a market economy and establishing Estonia’s own currency and tax system. Kallas was elected a member of the Congress of People's Deputies of the Soviet Union in the 1989 Soviet Union legislative election, the first partially free elections in the Soviet Union. The Estonian War Museum (full name Estonian War Museum – General Laidoner Museum; ) is a war museum in Viimsi, Estonia. The museum is dedicated to military history of Estonia. Johan Laidoner
Johan Laidoner ( – 13 March 1953) was an Estonian general and statesman. He served as Commander‑in‑Chief of the Estonian Armed Forces during the 1918–1920 Estonian War of Independence and was among the most influential people in the Estonian politics between the world wars. Born in Viiratsi, Kreis Fellin, Governorate of Livonia, Laidoner joined the Imperial Russian Army in 1901 and fought in World War I. Following the Russian Revolution in 1917, he commanded the Estonian national units of the Russian army. In 1918, the Estonian Provisional Government appointed him commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the newly independent Republic of Estonia. After the Estonian War of Independence, he served as a member of the parliament (''Riigikogu'') from 1920 to 1929.
