''Viduthalai Part 1'' () is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language period political crime thriller film directed and co-produced by Vetrimaaran under Grass Root Film Company and RS Infotainment. It is the first of a two-part adaptation of the short story ''Thunaivan'' () by Jeyamohan. Set in 1987, the film follows a police constable, who is recruited to arrest the leader of a separatist group but soon gets caught in ethical dilemmas. V. Chitravel Vetrimaaran (born 4 September 1975) is an Indian film director, film producer and screenwriter who primarily works in Tamil cinema. He is known for his unique filmography with major commercial success and highly critically acclaimed body of work. He has won five National Film Awards, three Filmfare South Awards and one Tamil Nadu State Film Award. Vetrimaaran made his directorial debut with '' Polladhavan'' (2007). Rajiv Menon
Rajiv Menon (born 20 April 1963) is an Indian filmmaker who has worked as a director and cinematographer in several Indian regional film industries. After making his breakthrough as a film cinematographer with Mani Ratnam's Tamil drama ''Bombay'' (1995), Menon has continued to collaborate with Ratnam on other projects including ''Guru'' (2007) and '' Kadal'' (2013). Wrap, as used in the phrase "That's a wrap", has been used by directors since the early days of the film industry to signal the end of filming. Since the 1920s, filmmakers have been using this phrase when principal photography is concluded and the film is ready to go into post-production. Pavel Navageethan (born 17 January 1984) is an Indian actor and filmmaker who works in Tamil cinema. Munnar Ramesh is an Indian actor who works in Tamil-language films. He is known for his character and villain roles, as well as his frequent collaborations with Vetrimaaran.
