''Viduthalai'' () is a 1986 Indian Tamil-language action heist film, directed by K. Vijayan. It stars Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth and Vishnuvardhan. The film was a box-office failure. It is a remake of the 1980 Hindi film '' Qurbani'', which itself was based on the 1972 Italian film '' The Master Touch''. Plot Raja, an expert thief, is in love with Radha, a disco club dancer-cum-singer, who is unaware of Raja's profession. Meanwhile, an evil brother-sister duo, Vikram and Bhairavi is bent on seeking vengeance from Crime boss Sudharshan, who cheated and siphoned Bhairavi's money. ''Viduthalai Part 1'' () is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language period political crime thriller film directed and co-produced by Vetrimaaran under Grass Root Film Company and RS Infotainment. It is the first of a two-part adaptation of the short story ''Thunaivan'' () by Jeyamohan. Set in 1987, the film follows a police constable, who is recruited to arrest the leader of a separatist group but soon gets caught in ethical dilemmas. Viduthalai () () is a Tamil newspaper published from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. History ''Viduthalai'' was first launched on 1 June 1935, by the Justice Party as a bi-weekly, published at the address 14 Mount Road, Chennai and priced at 1/4 Indian annas. It was converted into a daily in 1937 under the charge of Periyar E. V. Ramasamy who priced it at 1/2 Indian annas. Later, the paper was published from its office at the depot of another Dravidian daily named Kudi Arasu in Erode. Later, the office was shifted to Balakrishna Pillai Street in Chintadripet, Chennai. From November 1965 onwards, ''Viduthalai'' started to be published from Vepery, Chennai. ''Viduthalai'' also served as testing ground for Periyar's Tamil alphabet reform. Kandhasamy Rajendran, popularly known as Viduthalai Rajendran is a Periyarist, currently the General Secretary of Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam, formerly Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam. He is well known for propagating the principles of Periyar E. V. Ramasamy through his literary works. He is the founder and editor-in-chief of the weekly ''Puratchi Periyar Muzhakkam''. Personal life Rajendran was born on 16 October 1947, to Kandhasamy and Dhanam in Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. During World War II, his father joined the Indian National Army.
