Victor Khoury
Victor Khoury (1929-2 February 2017) (in Arabic فيكتور خوري) was the commander of the Lebanese Army. He was also Minister of Defense in the Lebanese government led by Selim Hoss during the reign of President Elias Sarkis Elias ( ; ) is the hellenized version for the name of Elijah (; ; , or ), a prophet in the Northern Kingdom of Israel in the 9th century BC, mentioned in several holy books. He was enrolled in the Army and entered the Military Academy as a Cadet Officer in 1948. He was promoted gradually through the ranks until he was Lieutenant Colonel in 1966 and Brigiadier General in 1977. He was appointed as General of the Army from 28 March 1977 to 7 December 1982. Selim Hoss
Salim Ahmad al-Huss ('';'' 20 December 1929 – 25 August 2024), also spelled Selim El-Hoss, was a Lebanese politician who served as the prime minister of Lebanon and a longtime Member of Parliament representing his hometown, Beirut. He was known as a technocrat. Early life and personal life Salim al-Huss was born into a Sunni Muslim family in Beirut on 20 December 1929. His father died when he was 7 months old. In 1941, he fled with his mother and grandmother from Beirut to Sawfar. He received his undergraduate degree in economics from the American University of Beirut and a PhD in business and economics from Indiana University in the United States in 1961. Al-Huss was married to Leila Pharaoun, a Maronite Christian who converted to Islam at the end of her life in order to be buried next to her husband in a Muslim cemetery, according to a 2000 interview with al-Huss. The Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces () is responsible for the operational command of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF). Amchit
Amsheet (, '; also spelled Amchit) is a seaside town and municipality in the Byblos District of Keserwan-Jbeil Governorate, Lebanon, about 40 km north of Beirut. The town's average elevation is 140 meters above sea level and its total land area is 595 hectares. Its inhabitants are predominantly Maronites, although there is a Shia Muslim minority. There are many old churches in Amsheet (more than a hundred and some old synagogues.). Demographics Amsheet's population is around 25,000. The majority of the inhabitants are Maronite Christians.
