Vicente Lim
Vicente Podico Lim (February 24, 1888 – December 31, 1944) was a Filipino Brigadier General and World War II hero. Lim was the first Filipino graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point (Class of 1914). Prior to the establishment of the Philippine Army, he served as an officer in the Philippine Scouts (a now-defunct native Filipino unit of the US Army). During the Battle of Bataan, Lim was the Commanding General of the 41st Division, Philippine Army (USAFFE). After the fall of the Philippines he contributed to the Filipino resistance movement until his capture and subsequent execution. Lim was one of the seven Charter Members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines. Pilar Hidalgo-Lim
Pilar Lardizabal Hidalgo-Lim (May 24, 1893 – December 8, 1973) was a Filipina educator and civic leader. She was married to Brig. Gen. She became President of the National Federation of Women's Clubs, and was an active supporter for women's suffrage, which President Manuel Quezon signed into law in 1937. The Philippine Scouts ( Filipino: ''Maghahanap ng Pilipinas''/''Hukbong Maghahanap ng Pilipinas'') was a military organization of the United States Army from 1901 until after the end of World War II. These troops were generally Filipinos and Filipino-Americans assigned to the United States Army Philippine Department, under the command of American commissioned officers (though a handful of Filipino Americans received commissions from the United States Military Academy). The 45th Infantry Regiment was a unit of the Philippine Scouts in the Philippine Division. History The 45th, along with the 57th Infantry Regiment, were the first two infantry regiments of the Philippine Scouts which were formed after World War I. Th regiment was stationed at Camp Gordon, Georgia, as of June 1919 as a separate regiment, and was transferred on 4 September 1919 to Camp Dix, New Jersey. The 41st Infantry Division was a division of the Philippine Army under the United States Army Forces in the Far East (USAFFE). Organization The division had an authorized strength of 7,500 men. As of March 1942, the division had fewer than 6,000 men. The 41st Field Artillery Regiment had sixteen 75-mm. guns and eight 2.95-inch pack howitzers.
