Vic Groves
Victor George Groves (5 November 1932 – 24 January 2015) was an English footballer. Career Born in Stepney, London, Groves started his career at east London non-league clubs Leytonstone and Walthamstow Avenue, and then briefly as an amateur for Tottenham Hotspur before signing professional forms with Leyton Orient in 1954. He scored twice on his Tottenham debut in a 3–1 victory over Liverpool at White Hart Lane in September 1952. He made four appearances for the 'Lilywhites'. Playing as an inside forward, his regular goalscoring for Orient soon attracted the attention of Arsenal, who signed him in November 1955 for £23,000, at the time a very high figure. Stepney
Stepney is an area in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in the East End of London. Stepney is no longer officially defined, and is usually used to refer to a relatively small area. However, for much of its history the place name was applied to a much larger manor and parish, which covered most of the inner East End. Stepney Green is a remnant of a larger area of Common Land formerly known as Mile End Green. The area was built up rapidly during the 19th century, mainly to accommodate immigrant workers and poor families displaced from London. Perry Groves
Perry Groves (born 19 April 1965) is an English former professional footballer, best known for his time at Arsenal. A fast-paced player who usually played as a left winger and occasionally a striker, Groves also played professionally for Colchester United and Southampton, also briefly playing for both Dagenham & Redbridge and Canvey Island in non-league football towards the end of his career. He currently works as a media pundit.
