Vestri (Basketball)
The Vestri men's basketball team, commonly known as Vestri, is a basketball team based in Ísafjörður, Iceland. The club was founded in 1965 as Körfuknattleiksfélag Ísafjarðar and held that name until it merged with newly founded Íþróttafélagið Vestri multi-sport club in 2016 and became its basketball department. History The club was founded in 1965 as ''Körfuknattleiksfélag Ísafjarðar'' (KFÍ). In 1967 it reached the final of the Icelandic Men's Basketball Cup, Icelandic Cup where it lost to KR men's basketball, KR. Íþróttarhúsið á Torfnesi (, ), known colloquially as Jakinn or Ísjakinn (English: The Iceberg), is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Ísafjörður, Iceland. It is the homecourt to Íþróttafélagið Vestri (basketball and volleyball) and Knattspyrnufélagið Hörður (handball) but also hosts several other events every year. Borce Ilievski
Borce Ilievski (born August 3, 1972) is a Macedonian-Icelandic professional basketball coach. In 2019 he was named the Úrvalsdeild karla Coach of the Year after guiding ÍR to the Úrvalsdeild finals. Coaching career In 2006, Ilievski was hired as an assistant coach to KFÍ's men's team as well as the head coach of the club's youth program. Baldur Ingi Jónasson
Baldur Ingi Jónasson (born 15 July 1972) is an Icelandic former basketball coach and player. He formerly coached Úrvalsdeild clubs Stjarnan and KFÍ. As a player, he spent 9 seasons in the Icelandic top-tier Úrvalsdeild karla with KFÍ and Þór Akureyri, scoring 1,616 points in 192 games. Over his career, he has played over 30 season in the Icelandic basketball league system. Playing career After starting his career with Bolungarvík and splitting two seasons with ÍKÍ and Laugdælir, Baldur transferred to KFÍ in 1994. Hrafn Kristjánsson
Hrafn Kristjánsson is an Icelandic basketball coach and former player. He was named the Úrvalsdeild Coach of the Year in the 2010–11 season, when he won the Icelandic championship with the KR. As a coach he has won the Icelandic Basketball Cup two times (2011, 2015) and Icelandic Division I three times (2003, 2005, 2007). As a player he played 139 games in the Úrvalsdeild with KR and KFÍ, winning the national championship in 1990. Playing career Hrafn came up through the junior ranks of KR. Anthony Garbelotto (born 2 January 1969) is an English basketball coach who coaches RANS Simba Bogor of the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL). Coaching career Garbelotto started his coaching career with hometown club London Towers in 1992, as an assistant coach, leaving the post just two years later. In 1997 he joined up with the England team set-up where he was again an assistant coach, before being promoted to head coach of the Under-23 team in 1998. Guðni Ólafur Guðnason (born 14 December 1965) is an Icelandic former basketball player and coach who played 76 games for the Icelandic national team. In 1986 he was named the Icelandic Basketball Player of the Year. As a member of KR, he won the Icelandic championship once and the Icelandic Basketball Cup twice. The Hamar men's basketball team, commonly known as Hamar, is the men's basketball department of Íþróttafélagið Hamar. It was founded on 10 September 1992. History Hamar first fielded a men's team during the 1993–1994 season when it participated in 2. deild karla. After three seasons in the 2. deild, Hamar won the league in 1997 and was promoted to 1. deild karla. During its first season in 1. deild, the team finished 5th in the league. During the summer, Hamar hired former Icelandic international player Pétur Ingvarsson as its player-coach. Behind his and star player Oleg Krijanovskij play, Hamar finished fourth in the league and made it to the playoffs. Clifton Bush II (born 1 September 1970) is an American-New Zealand former professional basketball player.
