Venturing
Venturing is a core program of Scouting America for coeducational teenagers and young adults ages 14 (or 13 and graduated the eighth grade) through 20. It is one of Scouting America's three programs for older youth, the others being Sea Scouts and Exploring. The purpose of Venturing is to provide a positive environment where youth members, called Venturers, can experience adventure, leadership, personal growth, and service. History While the Venturing program is relatively new, older youth Scouting has a long history within Scouting America. The program got its start in the 1930s as the "Senior Scout" Division for boys 15 and older. In 1949 the Senior Scout Division became the Explorer Division. Summit Award
The Venturing Summit is the highest rank for youth in the Venturing program of the Boy Scouts of America. It requires Venturers to earn the Pathfinder Rank, participate in adventures, and demonstrate leadership, service and personal growth. Rank This rank consists of three elements: a badge, a medal and a knot insignia. The badge is a rotated square cloth patch, with the Venturing Summit rank emblem and the words LEAD THE ADVENTURE above. The badge is worn on the left pocket by youth have earned the rank The medal is an antique silver colored roundel with the words LEAD THE ADVENTURE in the border. Venturing Leadership Award
The Venturing Leadership Award is presented by councils, areas, regions, and the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America to Venturers and Venturing Advisors who have made exceptional contributions to Venturing and who exemplify the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Scouting America

Youth Protection Program (Boy Scouts Of America)
Leadership training in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) includes training on how to administer the Scouting program, outdoor skills training for adults and youth, and leadership development courses for adults and youth. Some of these courses like Youth Protection Training are mandatory. Most of the courses are offered by the local council, while a few are hosted at the national level, currently at Philmont Training Center in New Mexico. They are available to members of all of the Boy Scout programs, including Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Explorer Posts, and Venturing Crews. Powder Horn (Boy Scouts Of America)
Powder Horn was a skills resource course for Venturing (Boy Scouts of America), Venturing and Scouts BSA leaders and youth (age 14 and up) of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Powder Horn is also described as a "hands-on resource management course" designed to give Scouting leaders "the contacts and tools necessary to conduct an awesome high-adventure program" in their Scouting unit. The goals of Powder Horn were to help Scout leaders safely conduct outdoor activities of a fun and challenging nature, provide an introduction to the resources necessary to successfully lead youth through a program of high adventure, and familiarize participants with the skills involved in different high adventure disciplines. Kodiak (Boy Scouts Of America)
Kodiak is the second level leadership development course for Venturers in the Boy Scouts of America's Venturing program. Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews is recommended but not required. Kodiak is the second course in the overall Venturing youth leadership development program called ''Nature of Leadership''. When it was first being developed, Kodiak was being offered as ''Nature of Leadership Treks''. This training is one of several programs available within the youth leadership training program. Participants must complete unit-level training, National Youth Leadership Training or a special ''bridge course'' that has not yet been defined. Ranger Award
The Ranger Award is an award available to youth in the Venturing program of the Boy Scouts of America, to encourage and recognize proficiency in skills. Award The medal is an antique silver colored roundel suspended from a white and green ribbon that is in turn suspended from a bar. The medal is inscribed with a compass rose with the BSA universal badge at the top and the word RANGER at the bottom. A powderhorn is in the center on a green enameled background. The bar is inscribed with RANGER. The Ranger bar is available as a separate item for informal uniform wear. Exploring (Learning For Life)
Exploring is an interactive, worksite-based career education program of Learning for Life, an affiliate of Scouting America. Participants in the program are called ''Explorers''. The program serves youth in 6th-8th grades (Exploring clubs), and coeducational teenagers and young adults who are 14 through 20 years old (Exploring posts). Exploring units (clubs or posts), are sponsored by local businesses, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations, and usually focus on a single career field, but can also introduce youth to a variety of career fields within a single unit.
