Vasko Atanasov
Vasko Atanasov (; born April 14, 1994) is a Macedonian basketball coach who is currently head coach of MZT Skopje. Professional career Atanasov started his professional career in his hometown team of Strumica as an assistant coach, before moving to the Moldovan League in 2015 to lead the Chisinau Admirals. Coming back to his hometown for his second stint with the team of Stumica, he became the youngest head coach to lead a team in the Macedonian league. In June 2023, he became the youngest head coach ever to win a title in Macedonian basketball history. On July 27, 2023, he signed a new contract with MZT Skopje. On May 25, 2024, Atanasov won the second title with MZT Skopje as coach against Pelister in the Macedonian Final., becoming only the second coach to ever win back-to-back titles with the same club. Coach (basketball)
Basketball coaching is the act of directing and strategizing the behavior of a basketball team or individual basketball player. Basketball coaching typically encompasses the improvement of individual and team offensive and defensive skills, as well as overall physical conditioning. Coaches also have the responsibility to improve their team by player development, strategy, and in-game management. Coaches also teach and inspire their team to be their best. Coaching is usually performed by a single person, often with the help of one or more assistants. The Macedonian First League (, ''Makedonska prva liga'') is the top-tier basketball competition in the Republic of North Macedonia organized by the Basketball Federation of North Macedonia. Until 1992 it was called Macedonian Republic League after which it was transformed into top division level Macedonian Basketball First League. The ABA League Second Division, also ABA League 2, is the 2nd-tier men's basketball division of the ABA League system. It is run by the ABA League JTD.
