Varasdar (, ) is a 1948 Indian Gujarati social drama film directed by Maganlal Thakkar. The film was produced by Laxmichand Shah and starred Harsukh Kikani and Nalini Jaywant in lead roles. The soundtrack was composed by Avinash Vyas. Plot Biharilal, a wealthy merchant from Ahmedabad, takes in his nephew Vinay, who is struggling with unemployment. Vinay meets Neela. Neela's uncle, Jayaprasad, who has lost money in gambling, tries to persuade the childless Biharilal to marry Neela, but Biharilal does not agree. When Neela discovers her uncle's plan, she asks Vinay to marry her. However, Vinay does not want to proceed without Biharilal's approval, which makes Neela think he is cowardly, and she leaves with her father. Nalini Jaywant
Nalini Jaywant (18 February 1926 – 22 December 2010) was an Indian actress who appeared in Hindi films in the 1940s and 1950s. Filmfare in their poll in the 1950s declared her the most beautiful woman in the movies. Actor Dilip Kumar described her "the greatest actress he ever worked with". Background and personal life Jaywant was born in Bombay (now Mumbai) in 1926. At the age of six years, she performed songs on All India Radio Mumbai station's Bal Sabha programme. By the age of ten, she was acting in school plays. Her popularity soared when she played the lead role in Rabindranath Tagore’s play ''Shrimatiji''. Avinash Vyas
Avinash Vyas was an Indian music composer, lyricist and singer of Gujarati films who composed music for over 190 Gujarati films. He was a winner of Gujarat State Film award for the best lyricist and best music 25 times. He was honoured by the Government of India in 1970 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award. Biography Avinash Vyas was born in the Indian state of Gujarat on 21 July 1912 and had his initial music training under Ustad Allauddin Khan. His career started with His Master's Voice for their ''Young India'' label where he cut his first gramophone record in 1940 and debuted as a film music composer in with the Gujarati film, Mahasati Ansuya in 1943, partnering the renowned musician, Ustad Alla Rakha. ''Gujarati Vishwakosh'' (; ) is an encyclopedia in Gujarati language, Gujarati, one of the Official languages of india, official languages of India, published by Gujarat Vishwakosh Trust, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Kathiawar (), also known as Saurashtra, is a peninsula in the south-western Gujarat state in India, bordering the Arabian Sea and covering about . It is bounded by the Kutch district in the north, the Gulf of Kutch in the northwest, and by the Gulf of Khambhat in the east.
