Vanlalthlana (born 27 October 1978) is an academician and politician from Mizoram, India.He is currently the Cabinet Minister for School Education Department, Higher & Technical Education Department, Taxation Department, Information & Public Relations Department and Information & Communication Technology Departments. He was the assistant professor of commerce at Pachhunga University College, Mizoram University. He is the founding member of the Zoram People's Movement, a regional political party in Mizoram. He was elected to the Mizoram Legislative Assembly from Aizawl North 2 constituency in the 2018 general election and the 2023 general election. Family Vanlalthlana is the son of a church minister Rev. C. Biakmawia, who had served as Moderator of the Mizoram Presbyterian Church Synod and Principal of Aizawl Theological College. 2018 Mizoram Legislative Assembly Election
The legislative assembly election was held on 28 November 2018 to elect members of the 40 constituencies in Mizoram. Mizo National Front won 26 seats in the election. This was the first time that Congress does not have any government in any of the states in Northeast India. Background The tenure of Mizoram Legislative Assembly was due to end on 15 December 2018. Four high-profile leaders of the Congress including the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in Mizoram defected to the BJP before the polls. Mizoram () is a state in Northeast India, with Aizawl as its seat of government and capital city. Mizo People
The Mizo people (Mizo: ''Mizo hnam'') are an ethnic group native to the Indian state of Mizoram and neighbouring regions of Northeast India. The term covers several related ethnic groups or clans inside the Mizo group. All Mizo tribes and clans claim in their folk legends that Sinlung (alternatively called "Chhinlung" or "Khul") was the cradle of the Mizos. Sinlung can either refer to "enclosed with a rock" in the Mizo languages or to a main ancestor named "Chin-Laung" from whom Mizo, Chin and other clans descended. The present Indian state of Mizoram (literally "Mizoland") was historically called the Lushai Hills or Lushai District. The Lushai Hills area was defined as an excluded area during the British Raj, and as a district of Assam in independent India. Aizawl Theological College
Aizawl Theological College is an ecumenical seminary of the Presbyterian Church in Aizawl, Mizoram, India. It is affiliated to the Senate of Serampore College (University). The college is owned by the Mizoram Presbyterian Church and administered by the Mizoram Synod through its Theological Education Board.
