''Valtari'' (, ) is the sixth studio album by Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós. It was released on 23 May 2012 by Parlophone. The album reached number eight on the UK Albums Chart and seven on the ''Billboard'' 200. The album was met with positive reviews as well with Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 74, based on 36 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Two singles were released from the album, the first being for " Ekki múkk" released on 10-inch vinyl for Record Store Day, and the second being for " Varúð", as a limited edition 10-inch vinyl to coincide with their 2012 summer tour. Sigur Rós () is an Icelandic post-rock band that formed in 1994 in Reykjavík. It comprises lead vocalist and guitarist Jónsi, Jón Þór "Jónsi" Birgisson, bassist Georg Hólm, and keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson. Known for their ethereal sound, frontman Jónsi's falsetto vocals, and their use of bowed guitar, Sigur Rós incorporate Classical music, classical and minimal music, minimal aesthetic elements. Ekki Múkk
"Ekki múkk" is the second track on Sigur Rós' sixth studio album, ''Valtari''. It premiered on the official website as well as an accompanying video on March 26, 2012. On Record Store Day, April 21, Sigur Rós released a 10-inch limited edition vinyl edition of "Ekki múkk" that plays inside out. Its B-side is an instrumental track titled "Kvistur". This B-side is also available as a pre-order bonus track for ''Valtari''. Alex Somers
Alex Somers (born March 7, 1984) is an American visual artist and musician from Baltimore, Maryland, who attended Berklee College of Music and Listaháskóli Íslands. Somers lives and works in Los Angeles. Previously he ran a recording studio in downtown Reykjavík where he produced, engineered, and mixed since 2010. He and his former partner Jónsi, with whom he split in 2019, produce music and visual art under the name Jónsi & Alex. The pair have released an album and a picture book, both titled ''Riceboy Sleeps (album), Riceboy Sleeps''. Jónsi and Somers have also collaborated on Jónsi's solo project. Somers co-produced and played instruments on Jónsi's album ''Go''. ''Inni'' (, ''Within'') is a live motion picture and album by the Icelandic band Sigur Rós, released in 2011. The concert footage was directed by Vincent Morisset and filmed at Alexandra Palace in 2008. It was released on 7 November 2011 in various formats, including vinyl, DVD, Blu-ray, and CD. Theatrical versions were shown around the world in late 2011. The release features live tracks from all but one of the band's albums, with a strong focus on their then-most recent album, ''Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust''. "Varúð" ( Icelandic for "Caution") is a song written and recorded by Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós for their sixth studio album, ''Valtari''. It appears as the third track on the album. The song was released as the second official single from the album on August 21, 2012 on a 10" gramophone record in support of their then-current Sigur Rós World Tour. It is also notably the first release by Sigur Rós under XL Recordings after the liquidation of EMI and the selling of its subsidiaries, including Sigur Rós' then-current label Parlophone. ''Kveikur'' (pronounced , ''fuse'' or ''candlewick'') is the seventh studio album from Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós. It was released 12 June 2013 in Japan, on 17 June internationally, and on 18 June in the United States through XL Recordings. It is the only album to be fully released through XL after the band departed EMI and Parlophone during the label's acquisition by Universal Music Group in 2012. It is the only album since their debut, ''Von'', not to feature Kjartan Sveinsson, following his departure in 2012 (instead featured as the album's co-producer), and the last to feature drummer Orri Páll Dýrason before his departure in 2018. ''Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust'' (, ''With a Buzz in Our Ears We Play Endlessly'') is the fifth full-length studio album by the Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós, released on 23 June 2008. All the lyrics for the album were originally intended to be in English, but in the end the band decided that Icelandic felt more natural to them. Some lyrics were translated back into Icelandic, while some songs got completely new texts. It is the band's first album to feature a track sung in English ("All Alright"). Amiina (formerly Amína, stylized in lowercase) is an Icelandic band composed of members Maria Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir, and Sólrún Sumarliðadóttir, Magnús Trygvason Eliassen and Guðmundur Vignir Karlsson. In the past they have frequently performed live and in the studio with Sigur Rós. Their music is made with a great number of instruments. United Palace Theater
The United Palace (originally Loew's 175th Street Theatre) is a theater at 4140 Broadway in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, United States. The theater, occupying a city block between Broadway, Wadsworth Avenue, and West 175th and 176th Streets, is both a house of worship and a cultural center. The architect, Thomas W. Lamb, designed the theater as a movie palace, which opened on February 22, 1930, as one of five Loew's Wonder Theatres in the New York City area. In statistics, the standard score or ''z''-score is the number of standard deviations by which the value of a raw score (i.e., an observed value or data point) is above or below the mean value of what is being observed or measured. Laugardalshöll (; also known as Laugardalshöllin and Laugardalsholl Sport Center) is a multi-purpose sports and exhibition venue located in the Laugardalur district of Iceland's capital Reykjavík. The complex consists of two main venues, a sports hall and indoor arena for track and field athletics events.
