Vaal Professionals
Vaal Professionals were a South African soccer club. Based in Vereeniging, they were a founder member of the Premier Soccer League in 1996. They were nicknamed ''Setla'' or ''Vaal Monsters''. They were relegated from the 1998–99 Premiership. A team with the same name played in the Gauteng Stream of the SAFA Second Division, from 2016–17 to 2019–20, as well as 2021–22. Vereeniging
Vereeniging ( ; ) is a city located in the south of Gauteng province, South Africa, situated where the Klip River empties into the northern loop of the Vaal River. It is also one of the constituent parts of the Vaal Triangle region and was formerly situated in the Transvaal province. Vereeniging is the third largest city in Gauteng. The name ''Vereeniging'' is the Dutch word meaning "association", although the spelling has since changed to ''vereniging'', with a single ''e''. Premier Soccer League
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is the administrative body for professional soccer leagues and cups in South Africa. It is based in Johannesburg, and was founded in 1996 following an agreement between the National Soccer League and the remnants of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL). Affiliated to the South African Football Association (SAFA), the PSL organizes the country's top two professional divisions in the South African Premiership and the National First Division, and knockout cup competitions in the Nedbank Cup and the MTN 8. 1998–99 South African Premiership
The 1998–99 Premiership, known as the 1998–99 Castle Premiership for sponsorship purposes, and also commonly referred to as the PSL after the governing body, was the third season of the Premiership since its establishment in 1996. The season began on 31 July 1998 and ended on 9 June 1999. Mamelodi Sundowns became the first team in Premiership history to defend their title as they won their second straight Premiership title and their fifth South African title after previously winning the Premiership's predecessor - the National Soccer League - on three occasions (1988, 1990 and 1993). In a hotly contested title race between Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs it came down to goal difference to separate the two as both finished on a joint record 75 points. The SAFA Second Division (known as the ABC Motsepe League for sponsorship reasons, and previously the Vodacom League between 1998 and 2012, was founded in 1998 as the overall third tier of South African association football, football. 2016–17 SAFA Second Division
The 2016–17 SAFA Second Division (known as the ABC Motsepe League for sponsorship reasons) was the 19th season of the SAFA Second Division, the third tier league for South African association football clubs, since its establishment in 1998. Due to the size of South Africa, the competition is split into nine divisions, one for each region. After the league stage of the regional competition was completed, the nine teams are placed into two 'streams', sometimes referred to as the Inland and Coastal streams. It was won by Uthongathi, who beat Super Eagles 1-0 in the playoff final. Both teams were promoted to the 2017-18 National First Division. The National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) was a South African association football league that existed between 1971 and 1995. During those years, the league, however, had three completely different organisations. Bob Save Super Bowl
The Nedbank Cup is the current name of South Africa's premier club soccer knockout tournament. While many formats have been used over the years, the tournament has always been based on the idea of giving lower league and amateur teams a chance to compete with clubs from the top league for the cup. The tournament is based on the English FA Cup, which has become known for "giant killings" (lower league clubs defeating a top-flight club).
