Utkal University
Utkal University (UU) is a public university in Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Odisha, and is the oldest university in the state, and the 17th-oldest university in India. The university was established in 1943 and was operating from Ravenshaw College in the early days. The foundation stone of the current Utkal University campus at Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar, was laid by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, on 1 January 1958. The campus was inaugurated by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the second President of India, on 2 January 1963. It is a teaching-cum-affiliating university. The sprawling 399.9 acre campus at Vani Vihar is located in the heart of Bhubaneswar. In 2016, Utkal University adopted its theme song from "tunga sikhar chula" (1st 3 stanzas) poem of Godabarish Mishra, one of its founder members. The Governor of Odisha is the head of the Indian state of Odisha. Vani Vihar
Vani Vihar is the most famous centre of education in the city of Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The campus of the Utkal University is located at Vani Vihar. The University Law College and the Directorate of Distance and Continuing Education (DDCE) are also located here. Vani Vihar has also a Railway Station named after it. Etymology and history ''Vani'' in Sanskrit means "word" or "knowledge" and ''Vihara'' means "abode". Vani is also another name of Saraswati, the Hindu Goddess of Learning. Sangita Mukhopadhyay
Sangita Mukhopadhyay (born 1 January 1966) is an Indian molecular cell biologist, immunologist and the head of the molecular biology group at the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics. Known for her studies on immunosuppression and infection biology, Mukhopadhyay is an elected fellow of all the three major Indian science academies namely the Indian National Science Academy, the Indian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences, India. She is a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Biocomposites at the University of Guelph's School of Engineering and holds a joint appointment in the Department of Plant Agriculture. National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a ranking methodology released annually by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to rank institutions of higher education in India. The framework was approved by the former Ministry of Human Resource Development (now the Ministry of Education) and launched by the Minister on 29 September 2015. Depending on their areas of operation, institutions have been ranked under 11 different categories – overall, university, colleges, engineering, management, pharmacy, law, medical, architecture, dental and research.
