Softcore Pornography
Softcore pornography or softcore porn is commercial still photography, film, imagery, or even audio that has a pornographic or erotic component but is less sexually graphic or intrusive than hardcore pornography, defined by a lack of sexual penetration or other sexual activity. It typically contains nude or semi-nude actors involved in suggestive poses or scenes, and is intended to be sexually arousing and aesthetically beautiful. The distinction between softcore pornography and erotic photography, or erotic art such as Vargas girl pin-ups, is largely a matter of debate. When the subject is naked, the image must be differentiated from nude art, and photos belong within the broader category of nude photography. Components Softcore pornography may include sexual activity between two people or masturbation. It does not contain explicit depictions of sexual penetration, cunnilingus, fellatio, fingering, handjobs, or ejaculation. Depictions of erections of the penis ma ...

Interpretive Dance
Interpretive dance is a family of modern dance styles that began around 1900 with Isadora Duncan. It used classical concert music but marked a departure from traditional concert dance, as a rebellion against the strict rules of classical ballet. It seeks to translate human emotions, conditions, situations or fantasies into movement and dramatic expression, as opposed to following a specific dance style or telling a linear story. It may also adapt traditional ethnic movements into more modern expressions. History The roots of interpretive dance can be traced back to the work of Isadora Duncan and Ruth St. Denis in the early 1900s. Duncan rejected the rigid technique and restrictive costumes of ballet in favor of more natural, flowing movements performed barefoot and in loose-fitting tunics. St. Denis was influenced by Eastern dance and spirituality, incorporating elements like bare feet and elaborate costumes into her performances. Other pioneers of interpretive dance in the ...

Cherry, Harry & Raquel!
''Cherry, Harry & Raquel!'' is a 1969 American action comedy and exploitation film, produced and directed by American film director Russ Meyer. The plot involves the smuggling of marijuana, and the attraction between a female writer and an English nurse. Following the success of '' Vixen!'' (1968), the film is notable for the first appearance of actor (and Meyer regular) Charles Napier playing Harry Thompson, a California border sheriff and cannabis smuggler who makes a reappearance in 1975's ''Supervixens''. Napier's nude scene with Larissa Ely, where they run in the desert, is the first instance of full frontal male nudity in a Meyer picture. The appearance of a penis in a movie in 1969 was still a novelty, and was reported on by the Associated Press after the movie was released and became a hit. Uschi Digard, who would also go on to make frequent appearances in Meyer's films, was cast as the naked muse of the Apache character. Shown in cut scenes usually wearing only an A ...

Jimmy McDonough
Jimmy McDonough is a biographer and journalist. He is best known for his biographies of Russ Meyer, Andy Milligan, Tammy Wynette, Al Green, and Neil Young. He is noted by critics for his remarkably exhaustive accounts and for his tendency to avoid romanticizing his subjects' lives. For this reason, he was described by ''The Times'' as "a literary Terminator". Career ''Time''s Richard Corliss declared his first published work ''The Ghastly One'' "a masterpiece" and John Waters has repeatedly named it one of his favorite books (this was actually McDonough's second effort; the first, ''Shakey: The Biography of Neil Young,'' had been held up by a lawsuit over the claim that Young had tried to prevent publication). Other reviewers decry the inclusion of his personal experience/reactions often found in his books as a sort of biographical treason. In 2010, McDonough's biography of Tammy Wynette was published and the book was optioned by director David O. Russell, who had also option ...

Double (occupation)
In filmmaking, a double is a person who substitutes for another actor such that the person's face is not shown. There are various terms associated with a double based on the specific body part or ability they serve as a double for, such as stunt double, "dance double", "butt double" and "hand double". Types of doubles Body double A body double or photography double is used in certain specific Shot (filmmaking), shots to replace the Credit (creative arts), credited actor of a character. The body double's face is obscured to maintain the illusion that they are the same character; usually by shooting their body at an angle that leaves their face out (such as by showing the body double from the back) or in post-production by superimposing the original actor's face over the body double's. The double's face is usually not seen on-camera, particularly when they do not facially resemble the actor; a wig will usually be employed if the double's hair color is different from that of ...

Z Movie
Zmovies (or grade-Zmovies) are low-budget films with production qualities lower than Bmovies. History and terminology The term "Zmovie" arose in the mid-1960s as an informal description of certain unequivocally non-A films. It was soon adopted to characterize low-budget motion pictures with quality standards well below those of most Bmovies and even so-called Cmovies. While Bmovies may have mediocre scripts and actors who are relatively unknown, modestly skilled, or past their prime, they are for the most part competently lit, shot and edited. Zmovies, by contrast, would be considered by most watchers and critics to be complete failures. Sometimes Zmovies are so incompetent they gain cult status due to the hilarity of their shortcomings. The economizing shortcuts of films identified as Cmovies tend to be evident throughout; nonetheless, films to which the C label is applied are generally the products of relatively stable entities within the commercial film industry and thus ...

Supporting Actor
A supporting actor or supporting actress is an actor who performs a role in a play or film below that of the leading actor(s), and above that of a bit part. In recognition of important nature of this work, the theater and film industries give separate awards to the best supporting actors and actresses. These range from minor roles to principal players and are often pivotal or vital to the story as in a best friend, love interest, sidekick (such as Robin in the Batman series), or antagonist (such as the villain). They are sometimes but not necessarily character roles. In earlier times, these could often be ethnic stereotypes. In television, the term day player is used to refer to most performers with supporting speaking roles hired daily without long-term contracts. In Academy Awards, an annual award is given for the Best Performance by an actor/ actress in a supporting role.
