Unitel Oruro
Unitel Oruro (formerly known as Televisión Oruro) is a Bolivian television station. Owned by Empresa de Comunicaciones del Oriente and operating on channel 2, the station is a Unitel owned-and-operated station. History TVO started test broadcasts in April 1985 and began regular broadcasts at 12pm on November 1, 1985, however some sources say the station started earlier, approximately in 1983. In 1988, the station hired Wigerto Salinas as a sports presenter and became an affiliate of Telesistema Boliviano, later joining Bolivisión in 1996, which remained until 1998, when the network signed a contract with Unitel, which had started its national network. Its director in the 90s was Humberto Cabezas, who oversaw the change of affiliation to Unitel. Well into the early 2000s, Telesistema Boliviano was still the licensee. Unitel Bolivia
UNITEL (UNIVERSAL DE TELEVISIÓN) is a Bolivian commercial television network headquartered in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, La Paz and Cochabamba, Bolivia. It was founded in 1987 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra as Teleoriente, which in 1997 created the current network and bought two Telesistema Boliviano stations. It is owned by businessman Osvaldo Monasterio Nieme. The company broadcasts sports, entertainment, political programs, and daily news programs nationwide in the South American country. As of 2020, it claimed to have the largest viewing audience. The station is owned by Empresa de Comunicaciones del Oriente (Ecor), Ltda., which also owns two radio stations, the Bolivian branch of Radio Disney Latin America, Radio Disney and since 2023, Eres Radio, specialized in love songs. Oruro
Oruro (Hispanicized spelling) or Uru Uru is a city in Bolivia with a population of 264,683 (2012 calculation), about halfway between La Paz and Sucre in the Altiplano, approximately above sea level. It is Bolivia's fifth-largest city by population, after Santa Cruz de la Sierra, El Alto, La Paz, and Cochabamba. It is the capital of the Department of Oruro and the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oruro. Oruro (; Quechua: ''Uru Uru''; Aymara: ''Ururu'') is a department of Bolivia, with an area of . Its capital is the city of Oruro. Bolivisión is a commercial Bolivian television station with its main station in La Paz. The channel was launched on June 17, 1997, following the dissolution of Telesistema Boliviano, and later the creation of Unitel and the beginning of its relations with Galavisión. The network is owned by Albavisión since May 2007. History Background On September 28, 1985, América Televisión, a terrestrial television channel owned by Banco Mercantil, was launched on channel 6 in La Paz, the Bolivian capital. In the broadcasting industry, an owned-and-operated station (frequently abbreviated as an O&O) usually refers to a television or radio station owned by the network with which it is associated. This distinguishes such a station from an network affiliate, affiliate, which is independently owned and carries network programming by contract. The concept of an O&O is clearly defined in the United States and Canada (and to some extent, several other countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Argentina and Japan), where network-owned stations had historically been the exception rather than the rule. Movement for Socialism – Political Instrument for the Sovereignty of the Peoples (; MAS or MAS-IPSP), is a socialist political party in Bolivia. Its followers are known as ''Masistas''. In the December 2005 election, MAS-IPSP won the first ever majority victory by a single Bolivian party. The party continued to rule until 10 November 2019, and was victorious again in the 2020 elections. MAS-IPSP evolved out of the movement to defend the interests of coca growers. TelepaÃs is a Bolivian newscast produced by Unitel since the beginning of the network in 1997. Its main header is located in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (where its newscast is natively produced) and it has editions for both La Paz and Cochabamba. History TelepaÃs created after the launch of the current Unitel network in 1997. Its first presenter was Julio Cesar Caballero La Paz, who tried to emulate the format of Carlos Mesa. However, the format failed and after a string of presenters with mixed results, José Luis Pomacusi, arrived to change its formula. The initial changes began in the way it was presentered.
