Unbehagen
''Unbehagen'' is the second studio album by Nina Hagen Band, released on February 25, 1980 by CBS Records. It is the last album released by the band, before Nina Hagen decided to pursue a solo career. The band kept on performing under the name Spliff. The album produced three singles, "African Reggae", "Herrmann hiess er" and "Auf'm Rummel". "Herrmann hiess er" deals with drug addiction and is believed to be about Hagen's ex-boyfriend Herman Brood. An accompanying music video was also released. The album also contains a German cover version, "Wir leben immer... noch", of Lene Lovich's hit single "Lucky Number". The song "Wenn ich ein Junge wär" was recorded live in April 1979 at the Saarbrücken Congress Hall. The album was a chart success and was certified Gold in Germany in 1981, selling over 250,000 copies. Nina Hagen
Catharina "Nina" Hagen (; born 11 March 1955) is a German singer, songwriter, and actress. She is known for her theatrical vocals and rise to prominence during the punk and Neue Deutsche Welle movements in the late 1970s and early 1980s. She is known as "The Godmother of German Punk". Born and raised in the former East Berlin, German Democratic Republic, Hagen began her career as an actress when she appeared in several German films alongside her mother Eva-Maria Hagen. Around that same time, she joined the band Automobil and released the schlager single " Du hast den Farbfilm vergessen". After her stepfather Wolf Biermann's East German citizenship was withdrawn in 1976, Hagen followed him to Hamburg. Shortly afterwards, she was offered a record deal from CBS Records and formed the Nina Hagen Band. Herman Brood
Hermanus "Herman" Brood (; 5 November 1946 – 11 July 2001) was a Dutch musician, painter, actor and poet. As a musician he achieved artistic and commercial success in the 1970s and 1980s, and was called "the greatest and only Dutch rock 'n' roll star". Later in life he started a successful career as a painter. Known for his hedonistic lifestyle of "sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll", Brood was an ''enfant terrible'' and a cultural figure whose suicide by jumping from a hotel roof, apparently influenced by a failure to kick his drug and alcohol habit, strengthened his controversial status; according to a poll organised to celebrate fifty years of Dutch popular music, it was the most significant event in its history. ''Nina Hagen Band'' is the debut studio album by Nina Hagen Band. It first was released only in West Berlin on August 31, 1978 by Columbia Records, CBS Records. The following month it was released in the rest of Germany. The album first entered the GfK Entertainment charts, Official Albums Chart in Germany on 20 November 1978. It was the first release by German singer Nina Hagen after her 1976 expatriation from East Germany. When she arrived in Hamburg, her stepfather and singer-songwriter Wolf Biermann got her in touch with CBS. Hagen traveled to London where she was introduced to music genres such as Punk rock, punk and reggae, and befriended other artists including Ari Up of the band The Slits. ''NunSexMonkRock'' is the debut solo (and third overall) studio album by German singer Nina Hagen. It was released on April 30, 1982, by CBS Records. ''NunSexMonkRock'' marked Hagen's first release since her departure from the Nina Hagen Band, and was also her first album with all songs performed in English. Background and recording In 1979, after working on the movie '' Cha Cha'' with Herman Brood and Lene Lovich, Hagen met the Dutch guitarist Ferdinand "Ferdi" Karmelk, with whom she later had a daughter Cosma Shiva. While pregnant, Hagen started working with Karmelk on new songs in English after her departure from the Nina Hagen Band, her German ensemble. Lucky Number (song)
"Lucky Number" is a song by American-British recording artist Lene Lovich. Originally released as a B-side for Lovich's cover of "I Think We're Alone Now", the song was re-released in 1979 by Stiff Records as an A-side and became the lead single of her debut studio album '' Stateless'' (1978). The song was written by Lovich and Les Chappell, who produced the song. "Lucky Number" received very positive reviews from music critics and was a commercial success, peaking at number two in Australia, number three in the Netherlands, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, and number five in Belgium. Hansa Tonstudio is a recording studio located in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin, Germany. Herwig Rudolf Mitteregger (born 6 September 1953) is an Austrian musician. He became known with the Nina Hagen Band, where he played drums and percussions. He was most famous as a member of German rock band Spliff. Career Herwig Mitteregger (drums and percussions), Bernhard Potschka (guitar), Manfred Praeker (bass) played together in the band Lok Kreuzberg, before they and Reinhold Heil (keyboards) joined Nina Hagen to form the Nina Hagen Band. Reinhold Heil (born 18 May 1954) is a German musician, producer, and film and television composer. He initially achieved success in Germany as a member of the post-punk and Neue Deutsche Welle groups Nina Hagen Band, Spliff and Nena, and later as a music producer.
