UTSA Roadrunners Football
The UTSA Roadrunners football program represents the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in the sport of American football. The Roadrunners compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the American Athletic Conference. They are coached by Jeff Traylor, who started in 2020. The Roadrunners play their home games at the Alamodome, which has a seating capacity of 65,000 but whose capacity for UTSA games is normally restricted to 36,582. History Start-up and organization (2006–2010) In February 2006, the University of Texas at San Antonio approached Carr Sports Associates, Inc. to conduct a feasibility study and make recommendations to the university regarding an expansion of the athletics department. Lisa Campos
Lisa Campos is the current director of athletics for the University of Texas at San Antonio. She previously served as athletic director for Northern Arizona University from 2012 to 2017, and as an associate athletic director at the University of Texas at El Paso from 2003 to 2012. Campos graduated from Colorado State University with both bachelor's and master's degrees. She graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a doctorate degree. Campos was named athletic director at the University of Texas at San Antonio on November 16, 2017. Campos also represents Conference USA on the NCAA Division I Council. Southland Conference
The Southland Conference (SLC) is a collegiate athletic conference which operates in the South Central United States (specifically Texas and Louisiana). It participates in the NCAA's Division I for all sports; for football, it participates in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Southland sponsors 18 sports, 10 for women and eight for men, and is governed by a presidential Board of Directors and an Advisory Council of athletic and academic administrators. Travis Bush
Travis Bush is an American football coach and former player. He is the first head football coach at University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). Previously, he was the head football coach and athletic director at Canyon High School, a position he held from 2021 to 2022. Before that, he was the head football coach and athletic director at Seguin High School from 2016 to 2020 and was the offensive coordinator for the University of Houston under head coach Tony Levine. Football Helmet
A football helmet is a type of protective headgear used mainly in gridiron football, although a structural variation has occasional use in Australian rules football. David Ross (football Coach)
David Ross (born November 18, 1959) is a former American football player and coach. He was most recently an assistant coach for the UTSA Roadrunners football team. Ross served as the head football coach at Bacone College from 2001 to 2005, compiling a record of 27–26. He has also served as head football coach at the junior college and high school levels. Coaching career Early years Ross began his coaching career at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Junior College in Miami, Oklahoma in 1982 after graduating from Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri. The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats are the athletic teams for Northwest Missouri State University, located in Maryville, Missouri. The Bearcats play in the NCAA Division II. Northwest is a founding member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association in 1912 and has remained in the conference ever since. From their founding until 1937, they competed in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). Mel Tjeerdsma
Mel Tjeerdsma ( ; born May 24, 1946) is a retired American football coach and athletic director at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. He served as the head coach at Austin College in Sherman, Texas from 1984 to 1993 and at Northwest Missouri State University from 1994 until his retirement after the 2010 season. In his 27 years as a head coach, Tjeerdsma compiled a career college football record of 242–82–4. He led the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats to three NCAA Division II Football Championship titles (1998, 1999, and 2009) and four additional NCAA Division II titles games (2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008). Larry Coker
Larry Edward Coker (born June 23, 1948) is an American former college football coach and player. He served as the head football coach of the University of Miami from 2001 to 2006 and the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) from 2011 to 2016. Coker's 2001 Miami team was named the consensus national champion after an undefeated season that culminated with a victory in the Rose Bowl over Nebraska. In the process of winning the championship, Coker became the third head coach since 1948 to win the national championship in his first season.
