USM Alger
Union Sportive de la Médina d'Alger (); known as USM Alger or simply USMA for short, is a Association football, football club based in the inner suburbs of Algiers. The club was founded in 1937 and its colours are red and black. Their home stadium, Omar Hamadi Stadium, has a capacity of 10,000 spectators. The club is currently playing in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1. The club has one of Algeria's most prominent football records, as it won the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 8 times, the Algerian Cup 8 times and the Algerian Super Cup 2 times. Omar Hamadi Stadium
Omar Hamadi Stadium () is a multi-purpose stadium in Bologhine, Algiers, Algeria. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and is the home ground of USM Alger. The stadium has a capacity of 10,000 people. History Opening the stadium The stadium was built in 1919 as the home ground for l’AS Saint Eugène, Association Sportive Saint Eugénoise. For two years, it was known as Stade Roger Lapergue, and its architecture made it one of the most beautiful stadiums of its time. Originally, it featured two side stands and a party hall. It was later renamed Stade Communal de Saint Eugène, adopting the name of the city. Subsequently, the stadium became available to MC Alger, becoming a prominent venue in the Algiers League. Emir Abdelkader
Abd al-Qadir ibn Muhyi al-Din (6 September 1808 – 26 May 1883; '), known as the Emir Abdelkader or Abd al-Qadir al-Hassani al-Jaza'iri, was an Algerian religious and military leader who led a struggle against the French colonial invasion of Algiers in the early 19th century. As an Islamic scholar and Sufi who unexpectedly found himself leading a military campaign, he built up a collection of Algerian tribesmen that for many years successfully held out against one of the most advanced armies in Europe. His consistent regard for what would now be called human rights, especially as regards his Christian opponents, drew widespread admiration, and a crucial intervention to save the Christian community of Damascus from a massacre in 1860 brought honours and awards from around the world. Khalid Ibn Hashim
Khaled ibn Hashimi ibn Hajj Abd al Qadir (1875 – January 1936) was the grandson of the military leader Abd al Qadir and was for a time a prominent opponent of the nature of French colonial rule in Algeria. Early years Khaled ibn Hashimi was born in 1875 in Syria, where he grew up. He studied in Paris and went on to become an officer in the French army. He served with the army in Morocco.J. The Étoile Nord-Africaine or ENA (French for ''North African Star'') was an early Algerian nationalist organization founded in 1926. It was dissolved first in 1929, then reorganised in 1933 under the name of Glorieuse ENA and again dissolved in 1937. It is considered a forerunner of the Algerian National Liberation Front (FLN), who fought France during the Algerian War (1954–62). It was formed in 1926 by Algerian nationalist politician Hadj-Ali Abdelkader and called for an uprising against French colonial rule and total independence. It had no armed wing and attempted to organize peacefully. The party maintained links with the French Communist Party (PCF), until its dissolution.
