UPHD Altas
The Perpetual Altas and Lady Altas, or the UPHSD Altas and Lady Altas, are the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) teams of the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA. They are also popularly known as the Perps. Since joining the NCAA in 1984, the university's senior varsity basketball team only made the NCAA Finals twice. In spite of the poor financial support, their biggest run was in the late 1980s, led by the "big three" Bong Hawkins, Eric Quiday, and Ronald Sy, against the SSCR Stags' "big three", Paul Alvarez, Eugene Quilban, and Nap Hatton. They are the only NCAA basketball team that joined in the 20th century that's still in the NCAA to have never won a men's basketball championship. The Altas have been successful in other sports, winning titles in volleyball and in the NCAA Cheerleading Competition. NCAA General Championship
The National Collegiate Athletic Association General Championship is awarded to the school with the most points garnered in an academic year in the NCAA. It is split into the Juniors' division (for male high school students) and to the Seniors' division (for college students). The champion school in a given sport receives 30 points, with the runner-up receiving 20, and the last place receiving one point. All of the points from the different sports are then tabulated, and the school with the most points is the General Champion. Only sports that are official are included (cheerleading is excluded). The awarded school is judged as the best athletic program in the NCAA for the given academic year. Frankie Lim
Francisco "Frankie" Lim (born February 29, 1960) is a Filipino former basketball player, basketball coach and executive. He played 15 seasons in the PBA. He later became a successful coach, leading his alma mater San Beda Red Lions to four NCAA seniors titles. Lim previously served as head coach of the NLEX Road Warriors. Playing career Lim played collegiate ball at San Beda College where he was a member of the last championship team that won the NCAA crown in 1978 (it was then followed by a 28-year title drought that ended in 2006). While in the amateur ranks, he suited up for YCO Painters in the old MICAA, which was then coached by Freddie Webb. Scottie Thompson (basketball)
Earl Scottie Carreon Thompson (born July 12, 1993) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He is also the team manager for the Perpetual Altas of the Philippines' NCAA. Krystoffe "Kyt" Mauricio Jimenez (born March 21, 1997) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Sarangani Gripper Motorcycle Tire of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). Born in Saudi Arabia, Jimenez played college basketball for FEU and Perpetual before suffering multiple injuries. Juneric "Jong" Davalos Baloria (born June 3, 1990) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Batangas City Tanduay Rum Masters of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). He was drafted 30th overall pick by the Blackwater Elite in the 2014 PBA draft. He was traded to the NLEX Road Warriors along with 2016 and 2017 second round picks for Jason Ballesteros and Sunday Salvacion. Harold Miguel Davis Arboleda (born September 9, 1990) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Pablo Valiant Kings of the Pilipinas Super League (PSL). He was drafted 20th overall in the 2014 PBA draft by Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters. College career In 2012, he was the Perpetual Help Altas starting small forward. Bright Osagie Akhuetie is a Nigerian basketball player who last played for the UP Fighting Maroons of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). NCAA Season 95 was the 2019–20 collegiate athletic year of the National Collegiate Athletic Association of the Philippines. It was hosted by Arellano University. No overall championship title was awarded for this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines.
