UP-Tuks Netball
UP-Tuks Netball are a South African netball team based at the University of Pretoria. Their senior team represents the university in Varsity Netball. They also enter teams in University Sports South Africa, Netball South Africa and local Gauteng and Tshwane competitions. In addition they organise a university internal league. History South Africa UP-Tuks has a history of providing players for the South Africa national netball team. At the 2011 World Netball Championships, the South Africa squad featured five UP-Tuks players – Erin Burger, Chrisna Bootha, Amanda Mynhardt, Vanes-Mari du Toit and Leigh Ann Zackey. Mynhardt was also captain and the team was coached by Elize Kotze, a former UP-Tuks head coach. Burger was subsequently named player of the tournament. Varsity Netball In 2017, after finishing as runners-up in 2014 and 2016, UP-Tuks won their first Varsity Netball title. Marlize De Bruin
Marlize de Bruin (born 11 November 1994) is a South African sportswomen. As a netball player, she played for UP-Tuks in Varsity Netball and for Gauteng Jaguars in the Premier Netball League. She also represented the South Africa national netball team at the 2016 Fast5 Netball World Series. As a rugby sevens player, she represented the South Africa women's national rugby sevens team at the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens and at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Early life, family and education De Bruin was born and raised in Pretoria and attended Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool. Between 2015 and 2020, she attended the University of Pretoria where she gained degrees in education and sports management and trained to be a teacher. Jeanté Strydom
Jeanté Strydom (born 30 September 1996) is a South Africa netball international. She represented South Africa at the 2023 Netball World Cup. In South Africa, she played for NWU-Pukke and UP Tuks in Varsity Netball and for several teams, most notably Gauteng Jaguars, in the Premier Netball League. Ahead of the 2024 ANZ Premiership season, Strydom signed for Southern Steel. Lenize Potgieter
Lenize Potgieter (born 2 May 1994) is a South African professional netball player who currently plays for Manchester Thunder and the South African national team. Early life Potgieter was born in Polokwane, Limpopo before moving to Pretoria to pursue her high school career at Hoërskool Menlopark and further her studies and netball career. She has played netball for the past seventeen years. Career Lenize has represented her province of Limpopo at respective provincial netball tournaments. University of Johannesburg Netball Club, commonly known as UJ Netball, are a South African netball team based at Kingsway Campus Auckland Park at the University of Johannesburg.
