Tyrväntö
Tyrväntö is a List of former municipalities of Finland, former municipality of Finland in the Häme Province, now in Tavastia Proper. It was consolidated with Hattula in 1971. The northern part of the former municipality was transferred to Valkeakoski in 1978. Tyrväntö bordered Hattula, Sääksmäki, Pälkäne and Hauho. Häme Province
The Province of Häme (, ), or Tavastia, was a province of Finland from 1831 to 1997. In 1997 the southern parts with Kanta-Häme, Päijät-Häme was merged with the province of Uusimaa and Kymi into the new province of Southern Finland. The northern part with Pirkanmaa was merged with the provinces of Vaasa, Central Finland, Turku and Pori into the new province of Western Finland. The province corresponds roughly to the current regions of Kanta-Häme, Päijät-Häme and Pirkanmaa. Hattula
Hattula () is a municipality of Finland. It is part of the Tavastia Proper region and until 2010 it was located in the province of Southern Finland. Hattula is almost completely surrounded by Hämeenlinna, only in the north it shares the border with Valkeakoski and Pälkäne on the Pirkanmaa region side. The municipality has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . Its seat is in Parola. The municipality is unilingually Finnish. A central element of the landscape in Hattula is lake Vanajavesi by which most of the oldest settlements in the area are concentrated. A notable monument is the Holy Cross Church in Hattula. Between 1634 and 2009, Finland was administered as several provinces, or counties (, ). Finland had always been a unitary state: the provincial authorities were part of the central government's executive branch and apart from Åland, the provinces had little autonomy. Sääksmäki
Sääksmäki is a List of former municipalities of Finland, former municipality, currently part of Valkeakoski in the Pirkanmaa region of Western Finland. A past president of Finland, Pehr Evind Svinhufvud, the Finnish film producer and director Veikko Aaltonen, eminent Finnish historian Eino Jutikkala, and actress Pirkko Mannola, were born there. Sääksmäki's most famous building is the medieval stone Sääksmäki Church, built at the end of the 15th century. It is one of the oldest buildings in Finland.
