Stephen Twigg
Stephen Twigg (born 25 December 1966) is a British Labour Co-op politician who was Member of Parliament for Enfield Southgate from 1997 to 2005, and for Liverpool West Derby from 2010 to 2019. He came to national prominence in 1997 by winning the seat of Defence Secretary Michael Portillo. Twigg was made the Minister of State for School Standards in 2004, a job he held until he lost his seat in 2005. He returned to parliament in 2010, after he was elected Member of Parliament for Liverpool West Derby when longtime MP Bob Wareing retired. Following Ed Miliband's election to the Labour leadership, he made Twigg a Shadow Foreign Office Minister. Gary Twigg (born 19 March 1984) is a Scottish former association footballer who played as a forward. Career Derby County Twigg began his career in 2000 with English club Derby County, having graduated through the youth system. William Twigg-Smith
William Twigg-Smith (né Smith; November 2, 1883 – April 21, 1950) was a New Zealand-born painter, illustrator and musician, who lived most of his life in Hawaii. During World War I, he was one of the first artists to serve in the American Camouflage Corps. After the war, he worked full-time as an illustrator for the Hawaiian Sugar Planters Association. He also had solo shows, featuring his landscapes of the region. Several of his works are held by the Honolulu Museum of Art. Early life Twigg-Smith was born, the third of four children, in Nelson, New Zealand to Frederick Charles Smith (1847 - 1905) and Alice Madeline Smith (née Thomas) (1858 - 1884). Thurston Twigg-Smith (August 17, 1921 – July 16, 2016) was an American businessman and philanthropist from Hawaii. Biography Twigg-Smith was a fifth-generation descendant of missionary settlers in Hawaii. He was born in 1921 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of William and Margaret Carter Twigg-Smith (née Thurston) (1895–1976). He was the great-great-grandson of two missionary couples: Asa and Lucy Goodale Thurston and Lorrin Andrews and his wife Mary Ann Wilson. He was the grandson of an American lawyer, politician, and businessman born and raised in the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi, Lorrin A. Thurston, who played a key role in the 1893 overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom. John Derek Twigg (born 9 July 1959) is a British Labour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Halton in Cheshire since the 1997 general election. Early life Twigg attended Bankfield High School (now Ormiston Chadwick Academy) in Widnes, and afterwards Halton College of Further Education (now Riverside College). At the age of 16, he joined the Civil Service and worked for the Department for Employment (at Runcorn) for the following 19 years. Rebecca Twigg (born March 26, 1963) is an American former racing cyclist. Cycling career An academic prodigy, she enrolled at the University of Washington in Seattle at the age of 14 and rode for the school's team. US national team coach Eddie Borysewicz saw her and invited her to join his team when she was 17. She earned degrees in biology and computer science from UW. Twigg won six world track cycling championships in the individual pursuit.
