Long Jump
The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a takeoff point. Along with the triple jump, the two events that measure jumping for distance as a group are referred to as the "horizontal jumps". This event has a history in the ancient Olympic Games and has been a modern Olympic event for men since the first Olympics in 1896 and for women since 1948. If the competitor starts the leap with any part of the foot past the foul line, the jump is declared a foul and no distance is recorded. ...

Track And Field
Track and field (or athletics in British English) is a sport that includes Competition#Sports, athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name used in North America is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. Though the sense of "athletics" as a broader sport is not used in American English, outside of the United States the term ''athletics'' can either be used to mean just its track and field component or the entirety of the sport (adding road racing and cross country) based on context. The foot racing events, which include sprint (running), sprints, middle-distance running, middle- and long-distance running, long-distance events, racewalking, and hurdling, are won by the athlete who completes it in the least time.
