Tug Records
Gut Records was a British independent record label, based in Maida Vale in London, England. Formed in 1991, Gut was founded by Guy Holmes, who had been Head of Promotions at Island Records. The first single released on the label, Right Said Fred's song, "I'm Too Sexy", became a worldwide hit. In August 2008, the company went bankrupt and its assets were sold to Phoenix Music International Ltd. The Orchard Enterprises NY, Inc., doing business as The Orchard (''also known as'' The Orchard Music), is an American music and entertainment company, specializing in media distribution. It is a division of Sony Music Entertainment, based in New York City. In 2019, the company sold off its film and television division, which was renamed 1091 Media. The Egg (band)
The Egg are a British electronic dance music band, consisting of Ned Scott (keyboards), Maff Scott (drums), Paul Marshall (bass) and Matt White (lead guitar). History Founded in the early 1990s in Oxford, England, the Egg released its first EP ''Shopping'' (1995) on the independent record label, Cup of Tea Records. Having been signed by China Records, in 1996 the band released the album ''Albumen'' in the United States on Discovery Records in 1997. In 1998, the follow-up album, ''Travelator'', was released, produced by Tim Holmes of Death in Vegas. In 2000, the group recorded the theme tune to the ITV series, '' At Home with the Braithwaites''. Uniting Nations
Uniting Nations are a British dance music act formed in Liverpool in 2004. They achieved chart success across Europe. The act was originally made up of Paul Keenan and Daz Sampson as band members, songwriters and producers. After their 2005 hit " Out of Touch", which was the debut and most successful single of the band, Craig Powell joined in as frontman of the band. A number of songs on the Uniting Nations' debut and only album '' One World'', released in 2005 on Gut Records, were also performed by vocalist and session artist Jinian Wilde. The band had chart success with two initial UK hits, "Out of Touch" and " You and Me". Tears for Fears are an English pop rock band formed in Bath in 1981 by Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal. Founded after the dissolution of their first band, the mod-influenced Graduate, Tears for Fears were associated with the synth-pop bands of the 1980s, and attained international chart success as part of the Second British Invasion. The band's debut album, '' The Hurting'' (1983), reached number one on the UK Albums Chart, and their first three hit singles – " Mad World", "Change", and " Pale Shelter" – all reached the top five in the UK Singles Chart. Sparks (band)
Sparks is an American pop music, pop and rock music, rock duo formed by brothers Ron Mael, Ron (keyboards) and Russell Mael (vocals) in Los Angeles. Space (English Band)
Space are a band from Liverpool, England, who formed in 1992 initially as a trio of Tommy Scott (vocals, bass, guitar), Jamie Murphy (vocals, guitar) and Jamie Island (drums), who was later replaced by Andy Parle in 1993. Jimmy Somerville
James William Somerville (born 22 June 1961) is a singer from Glasgow, Scotland who rose to prominence in the 1980s with the synth-pop groups Bronski Beat and the Communards. With Bronski Beat, Somerville achieved commercial success with the 1984 single " Smalltown Boy", which peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart, topped the charts in Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands and the Hot Dance Club Play chart in the United States. Josh Abrahams (born 1968 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) is an Australian musician who emerged from the underground dance music scene in the early 1990s. He has performed and recorded under the stage name Puretone, and is also known as The Pagan and Bassliners. Pulse (UK Band)
Pulse were the winners of the BBC reality show, '' Dance X''. Readers of ''The Sun'' newspaper chose the band's name. They signed a recording contract with Gut Records, and released their first single, "Dancing in Repeat", (written by Oscar Görres and Swedish popstar Danny Saucedo) as a digital download in August 2007, and as a CD single the following month. It debuted in the UK Singles Chart on 15 September 2007 at #91. During 2007 they supported Rihanna in the UK leg of her tour.
