"Treacle Brown" is a song written and produced by Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb and Maurice Gibb and was performed by Australian singer Lori Balmer. It was only released in the United Kingdom on Polydor Records. Recording It was written by Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb for the ''Pippi Longstocking'' film and was given to Balmer. Instrumental work by the three members of the Bee Gees, they also do the same with "Only One Woman" by The Marbles in 1968. Balmer, who had recorded a single with the Gibb brothers in 1966 moved with her family to England in the start of 1968. She recorded his single "Treacle Brown". Lori Balmer (born 1960) is an Australian pop singer, recording artist and worked as a session singer and model; and has appeared on TV in Australia, United States, Japan, Europe and Britain. Biography Early recordings Lori Balmer was born in 1960, and started singing professionally at an early age. Her debut single, "Banjo Boy", was issued early in 1966, under the name Lori, via RCA Records and includes an orchestra directed by Tommy Tycho. She was reputed to be Australian RCA's youngest recording star at that time. Through her family connection to the Bee Gees members, she was offered two of Barry Gibb's songs, " Who's Been Writing on the Wall Again" and "In Your World", which she recorded at EMI's Sydney Studio. Andy Gibb
Andrew Roy Gibb (5 March 1958 – 10 March 1988) was an English singer, songwriter, and actor. He was the younger brother of Barry, Robin and Maurice, who went on to form the Bee Gees. Gibb came to prominence in the late 1970s through the early 1980s with eight singles reaching the Top 20 of the US Hot 100, three of which went to number-one: " I Just Want to Be Your Everything" (1977), "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water" (1977), and " Shadow Dancing" (1978). In the early 1980s, he co-hosted the American music television series '' Solid Gold''. He also performed in a production of ''The Pirates of Penzance'' and ''Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat''. Gibb would later have issues with drug addiction and depression. He died on 10 March 1988, five days after his 30th birthday. ''Odessa'' is the sixth studio album by the Bee Gees, a double vinyl LP released on 30 March 1969, initially in an opulent red flocked cover with gold lettering.
