Travis Young
Travis Young (born June 4, 1979) is an American former basketball player. Standing at 1.85 m, he was a point guard. During the 2000s, Young played in the Dutch Eredivisie for Landstede (2001–02), Omniworld Almere (2002–03), Donar (2003 to 2006) and EiffelTowers Den Bosch (2006 to 2009). Young was also named to the league's All-Star Team five times. High school and college career Born in Columbus, Ohio, Young played high school basketball for Zanesville High School, before playing four season in college for Marshall. He was the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Freshman of the Year and garnered all-conference honours as a senior. After leaving Marshall, he was the school's third leader of all-time in steals. The Dutch Basketball League (DBL), formerly the Eredivisie, was the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands, run by the Federatie Eredivisie Basketball (FEB). Since 2021, the league has been replaced by the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League. The league had a closed system: to participate, a team has to have enough money and potential. Landstede Hammers is a Dutch basketball club based in Zwolle. The club plays in the BNXT League, the Dutch top tier division. The club was founded as Cees Lubbers The Hammers in 1995. In 1999, the club’s name was changed into Landstede Hammers. In 2001, the club received its current name Landstede Basketbal as the team became part of the same-named educational institution in Zwolle. Almere Pioneers is a Dutch amateur basketball team based in Almere. The team plays in the Promotiedivisie, the Dutch second tier league. History The club was founded in 1999 as a professional basketball club named BC Omniworld Almere and participated in the top-tier Eredivisie. The team played its home games in the Topsportcentrum Almere. The 2002–03 season was the best season in Almere's history, as the team reached the Eredivisie finals. The Marshall Thundering Herd men's basketball team represents Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. They compete in the NCAA Division I as a member of the Sun Belt Conference. Marshall has advanced to the NCAA tournament five times through the years (their 1987 appearance having been vacated), most recently in 2018. The Thundering Herd has also played in the NIT five times, last appearing in 2012.
