Tranøya (Troms)
or is an island in Senja Municipality in Troms county, Norway. It is located in the Solbergfjorden, about south of the large island of Senja. The island is almost totally uninhabited. There is one farm area on the eastern side of the island. The farm is also the site of the historic Tranøy Church. Today the farm is owned by the local government and used as a retirement and assisted living facility. There is also a small museum on the site. Troms (; ; ; ) is a Counties of Norway, county in northern Norway. It borders Finnmark county to the northeast and Nordland county in the southwest. Norrbotten Län in Sweden is located to the south and further southeast is a shorter border with Lapland (Finland), Lapland Province in Finland. To the west is the Norwegian Sea (Atlantic Ocean). Senja Municipality
Senja is a municipality in Troms county, Norway. It was established on 1 January 2020 when the municipalities of Berg, Lenvik, Torsken, and Tranøy were merged into one municipality. It is located in the traditional district of Hålogaland. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Finnsnes. Solbergfjorden
Solbergfjorden is a fjord (or more accurately, a strait) on the southeastern side of the large island of Senja in Troms county, Norway. The fjord flows through Dyrøy Municipality, Sørreisa Municipality, and Senja Municipality. The long strait flows into the Vågsfjorden to the southwest and into the Finnfjorden and Reisafjorden in the northeast. Tranøy Church
Tranøy Church () is a historic parish church of the Church of Norway in Senja Municipality in Troms county, Norway. It is located on the small island of Tranøya, just off the shore of the large island of Senja. It formerly was the main church for the Tranøy parish which is part of the Senja prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform style in 1775 by an unknown architect. The church seats about 210 people. The church is no longer used for regular worship services since the island on which it sits is no longer populated, nor does it have a road connection. It is, however, used periodically for special occasions.
