Towering Inferno (band)
Towering Inferno was an English experimental music duo of Richard Wolfson (musician), Richard Wolfson and Andy Saunders, notable for their sole album ''Kaddish (Towering Inferno album), Kaddish'', which reflected on The Holocaust. ''Kaddish'' was released on their own TI Records in 1993, and then globally by Island Records in 1995. Wolfson and Saunders composed the music, and Hungarian performance poet contributed the lyrics. Towering Inferno performed ''Kaddish'' in a number of cities between 1994 and 1999, including Vienna, Berlin, Warsaw, Budapest, Moscow and Melbourne. A London performance of the work in 1995 was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3. ''The Daily Telegraph'' said that Towering Inferno was "one of the most original and provocative performance-art bands of the 1990s", and described ''Kaddish'' as "a shocking and unforgettable piece". Experimental Music
Experimental music is a general label for any music or music genre that pushes existing boundaries and genre definitions. Experimental compositional practice is defined broadly by exploratory sensibilities radically opposed to, and questioning of, institutionalized compositional, performing, and aesthetic conventions in music. ''Random'' is a double- CD tribute album featuring songs by Gary Numan, released in 1997 on his first label, Beggars Banquet. ''Random'' was released four months before Numan's 1997 studio album ''Exile''. It played a key role in his 1990s career revival, showing the influence he had had on artists such as Damon Albarn, Pop Will Eat Itself, and Jesus Jones. ''The Guardian'' wrote in retrospect that his return to form began with ''Random''. Numan himself said it "helped enormously." David Kerman (born August 24, 1959) is an American experimental rock drummer and composer, best known as the founder and member of the Los Angeles avant-rock group 5uu's. He is also a member of the Belgian progressive rock band Present and the Israeli avant-rock band Ahvak. Kerman has been a member of the United States bands U Totem and Thinking Plague, and the Dutch band Blast. He has collaborated with several musicians, including Bob Drake, Chris Cutler and Fred Frith. Kerman lived in Israel between 2000 and 2003 and holds dual American and Israeli citizenship. Bob Drake (musician)
Bob Drake (born December 6, 1957) is an American multi-instrumentalist musician and recording engineer. He was a founding member of the avant-rock band Thinking Plague in the early 1980s, and a member of the 5uu's, Hail and The Science Group (with Chris Cutler, Stevan Kovacs Tickmayer and Fred Frith). He formed his own band, Bob Drake's Cabinet of Curiosities in 2007. Drake's engineering credits include mainstream artists like Ice Cube, Tina Turner and Engelbert Humperdinck. Drake has released a number of solo albums, all written, performed and recorded by himself. John Joseph Wardle (born 11 August 1958), known by the stage name Jah Wobble, is an English bass guitarist and singer. He became known to a wider audience as the original bass player in Public Image Ltd (PiL) in the late 1970s and early 1980s; he left the band after two albums.
