''Random'' is a double- CD tribute album featuring songs by Gary Numan, released in 1997 on his first label, Beggars Banquet. ''Random'' was released four months before Numan's 1997 studio album ''Exile''. It played a key role in his 1990s career revival, showing the influence he had had on artists such as Damon Albarn, Pop Will Eat Itself, and Jesus Jones. ''The Guardian'' wrote in retrospect that his return to form began with ''Random''. Numan himself said it "helped enormously." The album peaked at number 43 on the UK compilations chart on 21 June 1997. It was followed one year later by the remix album '' Random (02)''. Gary Anthony James Webb (born 8 March 1958), known professionally as Gary Numan, is an English singer, songwriter and musician. He entered the music industry as frontman of the New wave music, new wave band Tubeway Army. After releasing two studio albums with the band, he released his debut solo studio album ''The Pleasure Principle (album), The Pleasure Principle'' in 1979, topping the UK Albums Chart. ''Huck'' is a bi-monthly magazine, website and video platform. It has been recognised for its style of exploring subcultures as "entry points for articles about music, politics and places all over the world". It is published by the London-based media company TCOLondon, which also publishes ''Little White Lies (magazine), Little White Lies'' magazine. The Magnetic Fields
The Magnetic Fields are an American Band (rock and pop), band founded and led by Stephin Merritt. Merritt is the group's primary songwriter, producer, and vocalist, as well as frequent multi-instrumentalist. The band is named after the André Breton/Philippe Soupault novel ''Les Champs Magnétiques''. The band released their debut single "100,000 Fireflies" in 1991. The single was typical of the band's earlier career, characterized by synthesizer, synthesized instrumentation by Merritt, with lead vocals provided by Susan Anway (and then by Stephin Merritt himself, from the ''The House of Tomorrow (album), House of Tomorrow'' EP onwards). We Are Glass
"We Are Glass" is a song by the English new wave musician Gary Numan. It was released as a single in May 1980 and reached number five on the UK Singles Chart. The song was Numan's first release since his 1979 album, '' The Pleasure Principle'', which had been notable in part for its complete absence of guitars. Though the album was a major commercial success, Numan decided that "getting rid of guitars had been a mistake" and brought them back into the studio for his next project. The recording also featured viola, piano, and a newly expanded array of electronic keyboards, including ARP Pro Soloist and Roland Jupiter-4, to augment the Moog synthesizers of previous releases. Originally released on single only, "We Are Glass" reached number 5 on the UK charts in May 1980. An Pierlé (born An Miel Mia Pierlé on 13 December 1974) is a Belgian pianist and singer-songwriter. Career She studied classical piano and enrolled at the age of 17 at the art school in Antwerp. In her third year there she made a solo programme with songs of her own, alone at the piano. "I Can't Stop" is a song by English musician Gary Numan, which was released in 1986 as the second single from his eighth studio album '' Strange Charm''. It was written by Numan, and produced by Numan and the Waveteam. "I Can't Stop" reached No. 27 in the UK and remained on the charts for four weeks. Gravity Kills is an American industrial rock band from St. Louis, Missouri, formed in 1994. After releasing three albums, they disbanded in 2003, followed by reunions from 2005 to 2012, and another in 2023.
