Toppserien 2011
The 2011 Toppserien was the 28th season of top-tier women's football in Norway. A total of twelve teams contested the league, consisting of ten who competed in the previous season and two promoted from the 1. divisjon. The season started on 2 April 2011 and ended on 29 October 2011. Changes from 2010 * Norway overtook Iceland in the UEFA coefficient rankings for eighth spot in the 2012–13 European season. Thus Norway gains a second entry for the Champions League which is naturally given to the season's runner-up. Teams Teams not returning for this season, after being relegated in 2010 were IF Fløya and FK Donn. Donn finished 9th of 12 but were denied a license for 2011. Toppserien
The Toppserien is the top level of women's association football in Norway. It was founded in 1984. History Women's league football was introduced on a county basis in 1977. These leagues acted as qualification for the regional (South) league in 1979. Regional leagues were in operation until the formation of the First Division 1984 1. divisjon (women), 1984, when the league was divided into three regions, Group Østlandet, Eastern-Norway (''Østlandet''), Group Vestlandet, Western-Norway (''Vestlandet''), and Group Trøndelag, Mid-Norway (''Trøndelag''). No teams from Nord-Norge, Northern-Norway (''Nord-Norge'') played, however. The winners of the three groups met each other for a play-off. FK Donn
Fotballklubben Donn is a Norwegian football club from the neighbourhood Lund in Kristiansand, most notable for its women's football team. It was founded on 24 June 1909 and named after a dog. Donn Toppfotball The women's football team Donn Toppfotball played in Toppserien, the highest tier of women's football in Norway, for two periods. The first spell was between 1993 and 1995, and the club also reached the final of the Norwegian Women's Cup in 1994 where they were beaten by Trondheims-Ørn. Charmaine Hooper, the most capped Canadian player, played for Donn during this heyday for the club. The women's team also played in Toppserien in 2010. The women's team won promotion in the 2009 season, and they reconstituted themselves as a professional outfit called Donn Toppfotball. Madeleine Giske
Madeleine Giske (born 14 September 1987) is a Norwegian former footballer who played as a midfielder. She is a member of the Norway women's national football team. Giske is the daughter of Anders Giske, a former professional footballer who captained the Norway national football team, as well as playing for clubs such as SK Brann, 1. Emilie Haavi
Emilie Bosshard Haavi (born 16 June 1992) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or winger for Italian Serie A club AS Roma and the Norway women's national team. Haavi was according to Fjordabladet, elected ''Player of the Year'' in 2020 Toppserien. Kristy Nicole Moore (born 28 January 1977) is an association football winger or striker who has represented both Australia and England at senior international level. She was a full-time professional player with Fulham Ladies before spending nine years in the Norwegian Toppserien with IF Fløya and Stabæk. 2012 Norwegian First Division (women)
The 2012 1. divisjon (women) season kicked off on 14 April 2012, and ended on 28 October 2012. 2011-champions Vålerenga and runner-up Fart were promoted to the Toppserien at the end of the 2011 season. They were replaced by Medkila and Linderud-Grei. Haugar and Manglerud Star were relegated at the end of the 2011 season after finishing in the bottom two places of the table. They were replaced by the two playoff-winners Kongsvinger and Åsane. Outcome At the end of the season the top team was to win promotion to Toppserien, the second team was to play off against the second from bottom team in Toppserien for promotion, while the bottom two teams were to be relegated to the 2. divisjon. 2012–13 UEFA Women's Champions League
The 2012–13 UEFA Women's Champions League was the 12th edition of the European women's championship for football clubs. The final was held at Stamford Bridge, London, England on 23 May 2013. Team allocation and distribution The national champions and runners-up, where known, in nations that have participated in the past five years are listed as expected to compete. Kattem IL is a Norwegian sports club from the neighborhood Kattem in Heimdal borough, Trondheim. It has sections for football, handball, ice hockey and skiing. The women's football team has been in ''Toppserien'', the highest tier of women's football in Norway. Klepp IL
Klepp IL is a Norwegian sports club from the municipality of Klepp. It was founded on 1 October 1919, and has sections for football, handball and gymnastics as well as the less active sections for athletics and orienteering. Best known for their women's football team, Klepp Elite women currently play in the Toppserien, and have the distinction of being in the Norwegian top flight since its inception. Additionally, Klepp Elite have won the league in 1987 and 1989.
