Topolnitsa Reservoir
Topolnitsa Reservoir () is a List of dams and reservoirs in Bulgaria, dam and reservoir in the Sredna Gora mountain range of western Bulgaria. Administratively, it is located in Panagyurishte Municipality of Pazardzhik Province and Ihtiman Municipality of Sofia Province. Geography The reservoir is situated along the upper middle course of the river Topolnitsa (river), Topolnitsa its section, where it forms the divide between ''Ihtimanska Sredna Gora'' to the west and ''Sashtinska Sredna Gora'' to the east. The right tributary of the Topolnitsa, the Mativir, flows from the west into the middle section of the reservoir. There are two settlements along its shores, the villages of Muhovo, Sofia Province, Muhovo at the dam wall to the south, and Poibrene at its tail to the north. Sredna Gora
Sredna Gora ( ) is a mountain range in central Bulgaria, situated south of and parallel to the Balkan Mountains and extending from the river Iskar (river), Iskar to the west and the elbow of river Tundzha north of the city of Yambol to the east. Sredna Gora is 285 km long, reaching 50 km at its greatest width. Its highest peak is Golyam Bogdan at . It is part of the Srednogorie Mountain range, mountain chain system, which extends longitudinally across the most country from west to east, between the Balkan Mountains and the Sub-Balkan valleys to the north and the Kraishte, Rila and the Upper Thracian Plain to the south. Poibrene
Poibrene () is a village in the Panagyurishte municipality, western Bulgaria. It is located west of the town and has 850 inhabitants. The large dam Topolnitsa is 1 km west of the village. Several monuments there commemorate participants in the April Uprising. Due to the dam, the baths and the clear natural environment, many citizens of Panagyurishte have summer houses in or near the village. Geography Poibrene is located in the north-western part of the Pazardzhik Province on the left bank of the Topolnitsa river. The land of the village encompasses 108 km2 in Sashtinska and Ihtimanska Sredna Gora separated by the Poibrene Gap. Panagyurishte (, also transliterated ''Panagjurište'', ) is a town in Pazardzhik Province, Southern Bulgaria, situated in a small valley in the Sredna Gora mountains. It is 91 km east of Sofia, 43 km north of Pazardzhik. The town is the administrative center of the homonymous Panagyurishte Municipality. Mativir
The Mativir () is a river in southern Bulgaria, a right tributary river Topolnitsa, a left tributary of the Maritsa. Its length is 61 km. The Mativir drains significant areas of the Ihtimanska Sredna Gora mountain range. Geography The river takes its source under the name Baba in the western part of the Ihtimanska Sredna Gora at an altitude of 963 m, some 1.3 km west of the village of Borika. In the first 2 km it flows north and then turns eastwards passing through a deep forested valley. At the confluence between the Baba, the Razhana and the Meshkovitsa at 693 m, now under the name Matnitsa, the river turns southeast and after 3 km it enters the Ihtiman Valley. Muhovo, Sofia Province
Muhovo () is a village in Ihtiman Municipality in Sofia Province, western Bulgaria with a population of 138. Geography The village is located in the mountain of Sredna Gora, on the southern edge of the Topolnitsa Reservoir, at 22 km to the east of Ihtiman. Muhovo is in the vicinity of the villages of Lesichovo and Tserovo, Pazardzhik Province, Tserovo.
