Tony Wall (actor)
Anthony Wall (born 9 May 1934) is an Irish former hurler and manager who played as a centre-back at senior level for the Tipperary county team. Wall joined the team during the 1953–54 National League and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1967 championship. During that time he won five All-Ireland medals, six Munster medals and six National Hurling League medals. Wall captained the team to the All-Ireland title in 1958. At club level Wall was a ten-time county club championship medalist with Thurles Sarsfields. Playing career Colleges Wall first experienced hurling success when he was a student at Thurles CBS. He won back-to-back Dr Harty Cup medals in 1950 and 1951 as Thurles defeated Cork opposition on both occasions. Club Wall played his club hurling with Thurles Sarsfields. Thurles Sarsfields GAA
Thurles Sarsfields is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred in the town of Thurles at Semple Stadium. The club was founded in 1881 and is the most honoured club in the county, with 36 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship titles. Thurles Sarsfields are affiliated with the town's juvenile club Dúrlas Óg. History On 19 October 2009, Sarsfields captured their 30th Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, defeating neighbours Drom ’n Inch at Semple Stadium by 0-14 to 0-5. They went on to play Newtownshandrum in the Munster hurling championship quarter-final on 1 November 2009, losing by 1-15 to 0-19 points. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Minor Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Electric Ireland GAA Hurling All-Ireland Minor Championship) is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players under the age of 17 in Ireland and has been contested every year - except for a three-year absence during The Emergency (Ireland), the Emergency - since 1928 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship, 1928. Carrick Davins GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the town of Carrick-on-Suir in south County Tipperary in Ireland. It is one of three GAA clubs in the town, one of which, St Molleran's, is in County Waterford in the southern suburb of Carrickbeg across the River Suir. The club plays both hurling and Gaelic football but is predominantly a hurling club. The club enjoys a keen rivalry with Carrick Swans GAA. The club is named in honour of Maurice Davin, the first President of the GAA, who lived near the town. Roscrea GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Roscrea, County Tipperary, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the North Tipperary Board and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. History Located in the town of Roscrea, on the Tipperary-Offaly border, Roscrea GAA Club was founded in 1895. The club spent most of its early existence operating in the junior grade in the various North Tipperary competitions. Roscrea had their breakthrough success in 1936 when the club claimed their first North Tipperary SHC title. Roscrea's breakthrough at county level came when the club won three successive Tipperary SHC titles between 1968 and 1970. The club also claimed back-to-back Munster Club SHC titles at this time.
