Tony Popovic
Tony Popovic (born 4 July 1973) is an Australian association football manager and former player. He is currently head coach of the Australia men's national soccer team, Australia national football team. He guided the team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup becoming the first Australian to play for and manage the team at a World Cup. As a player Popovic's usual position was centre-back. Starting in 1989 at Sydney United 58 FC, Sydney United he went on to play for Sanfrecce Hiroshima of Japan and Premier League side Crystal Palace F.C., Crystal Palace, among other clubs. He appeared with the Australia men's national soccer team, Australian national team at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, where he played against reigning World Champions Brazil national football team, Brazil. 2012–13 A-League
The 2012–13 A-League was the 36th season of top-flight soccer in Australia, and the eighth season of the Australian A-League since its establishment in 2004. The 2012–13 season saw the introduction of a new Western Sydney-based team, the return of Newcastle Jets FC after their A-League licence was returned by FFA, and the end of Gold Coast United after they were removed from the competition at the end of the previous season. 2000 OFC Nations Cup
The 2000 OFC Nations Cup was held in Papeete, Tahiti. The six participating teams were Australia and New Zealand who qualified as of right, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu who qualified from the Melanesia Cup, the Cook Islands and Tahiti who qualified from the Polynesia Cup. Australia beat New Zealand 2–0 in the final. The Solomon Islands beat Vanuatu 2–1 for third place. The OFC Men's Nations Cup, known as the OFC Nations Cup before the 2024 OFC Men's Nations Cup, 2024 edition, is the primary association football competition contested by the senior list of men's national association football teams, men's national teams of the members of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC), determining the football continental championships, continental champion of Oceania. The winning team became the champion of Oceania and until 2016 qualified for the FIFA Confederations Cup.
