OFC Nations Cup
The OFC Men's Nations Cup, known as the OFC Nations Cup before the 2024 OFC Men's Nations Cup, 2024 edition, is the primary association football competition contested by the senior list of men's national association football teams, men's national teams of the members of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC), determining the football continental championships, continental champion of Oceania. The winning team became the champion of Oceania and until 2016 qualified for the FIFA Confederations Cup. Historically, a very large gulf separated Australia men's national soccer team, Australia and New Zealand men's national football team, New Zealand from the smaller island competitors, and little attention was paid to the tournament by the rest of the football world. 2012 OFC Nations Cup
The 2012 OFC Nations Cup was the ninth edition of the OFC Nations Cup organised by the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC). The group stage of the tournament also doubled as the second round of the OFC qualification tournament for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The four semi-finalists advanced to the final round of OFC qualifying, where they would compete for the OFC spot in the inter-confederation play-offs. The qualifying tournament was to be the football competition at the 2011 Pacific Games in Nouméa, New Caledonia. However, in June 2011 the format was amended, and the Pacific Games were no longer part of the qualification process. The new structure saw four of the lowest ranked entrants play a single round-robin tournament from 22 to 26 November 2011 in Samoa. 2004 OFC Nations Cup
The 2004 OFC Nations Cup was the edition of the tournament for the OFC Nations Cup and doubled as the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification (OFC), qualification tournament to the 2006 FIFA World Cup, except the two-legged final. A separate playoff between Australia and Solomon Islands national football team, Solomon Islands was held in September 2005, for World Cup Qualifying purposes. The competition was divided in two Group stages (the first is the Qualifying Stage), with Australia men's national soccer team, Australia and New Zealand men's national football team, New Zealand seeded into the second stage (Final Stage). Oceania Football Confederation
The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) is one of the six continental confederations of international association football. The OFC has 13 members, 11 of which are full members and two which are associate members not affiliated with FIFA. It promotes the game in Oceania and allows the member nations to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. OFC is predominantly made up of island nations where association football is not the most popular sport, with low GDP and low population meaning very little money is generated by the OFC nations. The OFC has little influence in the wider football world, either in terms of international competition or as a source of players for high-profile club competitions. Kris Trajanovski (born 19 February 1972 in Geelong, Victoria) is an Australian association football player and coach. Playing career Club career After playing with Altona Magic in the Victorian State League, Trajanovski attended the Australian Institute of Sport in 1989. In 1991, he joined National Soccer League team Preston Makedonia. He then joined Rockdale Ilinden in the New South Wales State League in 1992. Trajanovski joined Hong Kong team Happy Valley for the final six matches of the 1992–93 Hong Kong First Division League season. He returned to Hong Kong for the 1994–95 Hong Kong First Division League season, playing for South China. Returning to Australia, he joined NSL club Sydney Olympic in 1995. It was formerly used (along with the Polynesia Cup) for qualification to the OFC Nations Cup. The Trans-Tasman Cup was an association football competition played between Australia and New Zealand. Six editions were played between 1983 and 1995 after the OFC Nations Cup was discontinued. It was considered the most important Oceanian tournament during the absence of the OFC Nations Cup. The tournament was won four times by Australia and twice by New Zealand.
