Tommy Adkins
Thomas J. Adkins (born May 7, 1932) was an American gridiron football Center (gridiron football), center and linebacker who played for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played 12 regular season games and made two interceptions during the 1954 season. Prior to playing for the Argonauts, Adkins was drafted in the 17th round of the 1954 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Colts with the 197th overall pick. He never played with the Colts during the regular season. The Kentucky Wildcats football program represents the University of Kentucky in the sport of American football. The Baltimore Colts were a professional American football team that played in Baltimore from its founding in 1953 to 1984. The team now plays in Indianapolis, as the Indianapolis Colts. The team was named for Baltimore's history of horse breeding and racing. It was the second incarnation of the Baltimore Colts, the first having played for three years in the All-America Football Conference and one in the National Football League (NFL). This was the eighth year that the first overall pick was a bonus pick determined by lottery.
