Tom Harwood
Thomas Hedley Fairfax Harwood (born 26 August 1996) is a British journalist and political commentator. He is the political correspondent for GB News. He worked for the right-wing political news website Guido Fawkes between 2018 and 2021, and was a regular contributor to ''The Daily Telegraph'', writing online columns from 2019 to 2021. Early life and education Harwood was born on 26 August 1996. He is originally from Cambridge, England. Harwood attended The Perse School, an independent school in Cambridge. He studied politics at Durham University, where he was elected as president of its debating society, The Durham Union. Harwood ran a successful satirical campaign to become a National Union of Students (NUS) delegate, criticising the organisation with viral videos and satirical pledges such as using NUS funds to build a fully functional Death Star, and defeating the terrorist group ISIS with an NUS boycott. Vote Leave was a campaigning organisation that supported a "Leave" vote in the 2016 United Kingdom European Union membership referendum. On 13 April 2016 it was designated by the Electoral Commission as the official campaign in favour of leaving the European Union in the Referendum. Vote Leave was founded in October 2015 by political strategists Matthew Elliott and Dominic Cummings as a cross-party campaign. Turning Point USA (TPUSA), or Turning Point, is an American nonprofit organization that advocates for conservative politics on high school, college, and university campuses. It was founded in 2012 by Charlie Kirk and Bill Montgomery. TPUSA's sister organizations include Turning Point Endowment, Turning Point Action, Students for Trump, and Turning Point Faith. Turning Point UK
Turning Point UK (TPUK) is a British offshoot of Turning Point USA set up to promote right-wing politics in UK schools, colleges and universities, ostensibly to counter what Turning Point alleges are the left-wing politics of UK educational institutions. The group reportedly has links to the far-right, including conspiracy theorists such as ''InfoWars''. The group has a closely similar rhetoric to Generation Identity, whose intentions are racist and Islamophobic. The group describes its objectives as promoting "the values of free markets, limited government and personal responsibility". The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) is a right-wing pressure group and think tank registered as a UK charity Associated with the New Right, the IEA describes itself as an "educational research institute", and says that it seeks to "further the dissemination of free-market thinking", and that it does so by "analysing and expounding the role of markets in solving economic and social problems." The IEA subscribes to a neoliberal worldview and advocates positions based on this ideology. It published climate change denial material between 1994 and 2007, and has advocated total privatisation, in effect abolition, of the National Health Service (NHS), in favour of a healthcare system the IEA says is similar to Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Israel.
