Tofig Javadov
Tofig Mirhashim oghlu Javadov (Mirjavadov) ( az, Tofiq Mirhaşım oğlu Cavadov (Mircavadov), February 7, 1925 — August 20, 1963) was an Azerbaijani painter. Biography Tofig Javadov was born on February 7, 1925, in Baku. He served in Soviet Army from 1945 to 1948. From 1948 to 1952 he studied at the painting faculty of the Azerbaijan State School of Art named after Azim Azimzade. Azerbaijani artists such as Ayyub Mammadov, Abdul Khalig, Ayyub Huseynov and Baba Aliyev were his teachers. T. Javadov died on August 20, 1963, at the Chepelyova station of the Moscow–Serpukhov electric train. He was the brother of Javad Mirjavadov. Career Tofig Javadov began the period of neorealism in the second half of the 1950s. The neorealism period manifests itself in paintings of workers dedicated to oil and heavy industry. Rasim Babayev
Rasim Babayev ( az, Rasim Hənifə oğlu Babayev; 31 December 1927 – 24 April 2007) was a painter, Honored Art Worker and People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR. Biography Rasim Babayev was born in Baku, in 1927. He studied at Painting School named after Azim Azimzade in 1945-1949. Later he studied at Surikov Moscow Art Institute in 1949-1956. In 1959 he was admitted to the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan. The artist went on creative trips to foreign countries, and his personal exhibitions dedicated to different countries were held many times. The artworks he created are kept in museums, galleries and private collections in many countries also in Tretyakov Gallery and Museum of Oriental Art. In 1964, Rasim Babayev was awarded the title of Honored Art Worker of the Azerbaijan SSR and in 1989, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR. Absheron Peninsula
The Absheron Peninsula ( az, Abşeron yarımadası) is a peninsula in Azerbaijan. It is the location of Baku, the biggest and the most populous city of the country, and also the Baku metropolitan area, with its satellite cities Sumqayit and Khyrdalan. There are three districts, of which two are urban (Baku and Sumqayit), and one, ( Absheron Rayon), is suburban district in Absheron region. It extends eastward into the Caspian Sea, and reaches a maximum width of . Though technically the easternmost extension of the Caucasus Mountains, the landscape is only mildly hilly, a gently undulating plain that ends in a long spit of sand dunes known as Shah Dili, and now declared the Absheron National Park. Neorealism (art)
In art, neorealism refers to a few movements. In literature Portuguese neorealism was a Marxist literary movement that began slightly before Salazar's reign. It was mostly in line with socialist realism. In painting Neo-realism in painting was established by the ex- Camden Town Group painters Charles Ginner and Harold Gilman at the beginning of World War I. They set out to explore the spirit of their age through the shapes and colours of daily life. Their intentions were proclaimed in Ginner’s manifesto in ''New Age'' (1 January 1914), which was also used as the preface to Gilman and Ginner’s two-man exhibition of that year. It attacked the academic and warned against the ‘decorative’ aspect of imitators of Post-Impressionism. Javad Mirjavadov
Javad Mirjavadov (January 19, 1923, Baku – June 24, 1992, Tiraspol) was an Azerbaijani painter. He was honored as a Distinguished Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR in 1988. After the artist's death, numerous solo exhibitions of his work were held in various foreign countries. His works are kept in the Azerbaijan National Art Museum, the Azerbaijan State Art Gallery, the Moscow Museum of Eastern Peoples, as well as in many private galleries and collections. Currently, 17 of Javad Mirjavadov's works are preserved in the collection of the Azerbaijan State Art Gallery. In the annotation of his solo exhibition held in 1989 at the Museum of Eastern Peoples in Moscow, Javad Mirjavadov was referred to as the founder of modern Azerbaijani painting. Ayyub Huseynov ( az, Əyyub Hüseynov) was an Azerbaijani artist, pedagogue, Honored Art Worker of the USSR, member of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan. Biography Ayyub Huseynov was born in Khok in Norashen district (now Kangarli) in the Russian Empire. His first education was received in 1930 in the Azerbaijan Painting Technique in Baku and later in 1935 at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. Education at the Academy of Art in Tbilisi was accompanied by difficulties and successes in mastering artistic skills and deep knowledge. Baku Uyezd
The Baku uezd was a county (''uezd'') within the Baku Governorate of the Russian Empire and then of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and Azerbaijan SSR until its formal abolishment in 1929. The ''uezd'' was located in eastern part of the Baku Governorate, bordering Caspian sea to the east, Shemakha uezd to the west, Kuba uezd to the north and Lenkoran uezd to the south.
