Titica
Titica is an Angolan kuduro musician and dancer. She was named "the new face" of kuduro by the BBC. Career Titica was born in Luanda. Her stage name is Portuguese for "worthless" or "useless"; she chose the name to reclaim the hateful words that have been directed at her as a trans woman. Despite her training in ballet, Titica found fame through the loose and wild display of her sexual prowess in dance. Kuduro
Kuduro (or kuduru) is a type of music and dance from Angola. It is characterized as uptempo, energetic, and danceable. Kuduro was developed in Luanda, Angola, in the late 1980s. Producers sampled traditional carnival music like soca and zouk béton ("hard" zouk) from the Caribbean to Angola, house and techno playing from Europe. The kuduro is similar to semba. Its rhythm is laid out on a fast four-to-the-floor beat bass drum and some other instrument (snare drum, sidestick, etc.) performing the first two hits of the tresillo pattern. Origins The roots of kuduro can be traced to the late 1980s when producers in Luanda started mixing African percussion samples with zouk béton ("hard" zouk) and soca to create a style of music then known as Batida ("Beat"). Pedro Henriques Lisboa Santos (born 7 July 1983), better known by his stage name C4 Pedro, is an Angolan musician. Biography Son of the singer Lisboa Santos, C4 Pedro was born in Luanda on 7 July 1983, but grew up in Belgium, where he really started his music career with the group Brother Lisboa Santos alongside his brother Lil Saint.
