Tiruvarur Ramaswami Pillai
Ramaswami Pillai (1798–1852) was an Indian Carnatic music composer. He was born in Thiruvarur to Kamala Tyagesam Pillai and Vasantammal, a family of Nayinar Adiyar associated with the Thyagaraja Temple at Thiruvarur. Ramaswami Pillai blossomed into a composer and a penta-linguist and retired to Vaitheeswaran Koil where he spent the last days of his life. He lived up to the age of 53. His sister, Saraswati was also an accomplished musician who played the Veena and a vocalist. Works Ramaswami Pillai has around 52 compositions to his credit including Varnams and Kritis, and his Mudra was Vedapuri or Vedapureesa after one of the names of Vaidhisvaran koil. Carnatic music (known as or in the Dravidian languages) is a system of music commonly associated with South India, including the modern Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and southern Odisha. Thiruvarur () also spelt as Tiruvarur is a municipality in the Indian States and territories of India, state of Tamil Nadu. Thyagaraja Temple is a Shiva temple, located in the town of Thiruvarur in Tamil Nadu state, India. Shiva is worshiped in the form of a lingam as Thyagarajaswami, also known as ''Putridankondar''. A ''kriti'' () is a form of musical composition in the Carnatic music literature. The Sanskrit common noun ''Kriti'' means 'creation' or 'work'. A kriti forms the mental backbone of any typical Carnatic music concert and is the longer format of a Carnatic song. Bhairavi (Carnatic)
Bhairavi is a ''janya'' rāgam in Carnatic music (musical scale of South Indian classical music). Though it is a ''sampoorna'' rāgam (scale having all 7 notes), it has two different ''dhaivathams'' in its scale making it a Bhashanga Ragam, and hence is not classified as a ''melakarta'' rāgam (parent scale). Hanumatodi
Hanumatodi, more popularly known as Todi (pronounced hanumatōdi and tōdi), is a rāgam (musical scale) in Carnatic music. Muthuswami Dikshitar
Muthuswami Dikshitar (Mudduswamy Dikshitar) (, 24 March 1776 – 21 October 1835), mononymously Dikshitar, was a South Indian poet, singer, veena player, and a prolific composer of Indian classical music. He was the youngest member of what is referred to as the Trinity of Carnatic music. Muthuswami Dikshitar was born on 24 March 1776 in Tiruvarur near Thanjavur, in what is now the state of Tamil Nadu, India. He was born to a family that is traditionally traced back to Virinichipuram in the northern boundaries of the state.
