Tin Star (video Game)
''Tin Star'' is a shoot 'em up video game developed by Software Creations and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was originally released in North America in November 1994. Starring anthropomorphic robot characters, it follows a seven-day adventure of the titular sheriff who fights the criminal Bad Oil Gang from taking over the town of East Driftwood. It includes both third and first-person stages, and players can control the reticle either with a standard SNES controller, Super Scope, or the SNES Mouse. It is the third Software Creations game to be published by Nintendo, after '' Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball'' (1994) and (only in Europe) '' Plok!'' (1993). The game received positive reviews from critics, with praise for the presentation, especially the graphics and humor, but criticism of the monotonous gameplay and lack of challenge. Tin Star (band)
Tin Star were a British electronica band formed in 1996. Dave Tomlinson and Tim Bricheno were formerly in the Band X-CNN together in the early 1990s. History Tomlinson and Bricheno were discussing their musical future together in a London pub. Their conversation was overheard by Tim Gordine who introduced himself and they formed the band together. The group signed to V2 Records and released their debut album, ''The Thrill Kisser'', in 1999. The album had been recorded in Gordine's apartment in London and the restricted space meant the group adapted to using machines rather than a drum kit. The group scored a hit on US rock radio with "Head", which peaked at number 10 on the ''Billboard'' Modern Rock charts in 1999. A second LP, ''Dirty Bird'', followed in May 2001. The group has since split up. ''The Tin Star'' is a 1957 American Western film based on a short story, directed in VistaVision by Anthony Mann and starring Henry Fonda and Anthony Perkins, in one of Perkins' first roles. The film became one of the few low-budget westerns to be nominated for the Oscar for Best Writing, Story or Screenplay. Since its release, the film has become one of the classics of the genre.
