Tin Star (band)
Tin Star were a British electronica band formed in 1996. Dave Tomlinson and Tim Bricheno were formerly in the Band X-CNN together in the early 1990s. History Tomlinson and Bricheno were discussing their musical future together in a London pub. Their conversation was overheard by Tim Gordine who introduced himself and they formed the band together. The group signed to V2 Records and released their debut album, ''The Thrill Kisser'', in 1999. The album had been recorded in Gordine's apartment in London and the restricted space meant the group adapted to using machines rather than a drum kit. The group scored a hit on US rock radio with "Head", which peaked at number 10 on the ''Billboard'' Modern Rock charts in 1999. A second LP, ''Dirty Bird'', followed in May 2001. Electronica is both a broad group of electronic-based music styles intended for listening rather than strictly for dancing and a music scene that came to prominence in the early 1990s in the United Kingdom. V2 Records (or V2 Music and V2 Benelux; V2 being an abbreviation for Virgin 2) is a record label that was purchased by Universal Music Group in 2007, sold to PIAS in 2013 and partially acquired by Universal in 2022 (as part of larger PIAS 49% equity acquisition). In 2024, Universal acquired the remaining 51% of PIAS that it did not already own. Rhythm King
Rhythm King Records Ltd was a British independent record label, founded in the mid-1980s by Martin Heath, Adele Nozedar, DJ Jay Strongman and James Horrocks. It was based in Chiswick, London. History Beginnings Starting out as an offshoot of Daniel Miller's critically acclaimed Mute Records, Rhythm King's initial focus was dance music - specifically house, acid house, acid jazz, sampling culture and hip hop/rap. Tim Bricheno
Tim Bricheno (born Timothy John Bricheno, 6 July 1963, Huddersfield, Yorkshire) is an English guitarist, songwriter and music teacher. He was a member of several notable British indie bands, including All About Eve, The Sisters of Mercy, XC-NN (originally "CNN" until the band ran into legal problems with America's Cable News Network) and Tin Star. He has also played as a tour guest and recorded with The Mission. Bricheno has written music under several pseudonyms for other recording artists including Dusty Springfield and Gene Pitney. He currently plays in 'Jok', a band formed with ex XC-NN, and former Tin Star vocalist, David Tomlinson. He moved into media composition during the late 1990s alongside brother Toby Bricheno. A songwriter is a person who creates musical compositions or writes lyrics for songs, or both.
