''Timecop'' is a 1994 American science fiction action film directed by Peter Hyams and co-written by Mike Richardson (publisher), Mike Richardson and Mark Verheiden. Richardson also served as executive producer. ''Timecop'' was originally published as a three-part story, "Time Cop: A Man Out of Time", in the anthology comic ''Dark Horse Comics'' (August–October 1992) and spawned the successful film ''Timecop''. After the film reached #1 at the box office, it managed to spin off into a video game for SNES, a short-lived TV show on ABC, a series of novels and a direct-to-video sequel in 2003. Development Mike Richardson wrote a three-part story titled "Time Cop: A Man Out of Time", that was included in the launch of the Dark Horse Comics anthology series in 1992. Richardson developed the story, but the comic was written by Mark Verheiden and drawn by Ron Randall for issues #1-3. Richardson and Verheiden then teamed up to write the screenplay for the movie adaptation. Mark Verheiden (born March 26, 1956) is an American television, movie, and comic-book writer. He was a co-executive producer for the television series '' Falling Skies'' for DreamWorks Television and the TNT network. Career Comics and comic-related work Verheiden's introduction into writing comics came in June 1987, when he penned '' The American'', which was published by Dark Horse Comics in its second year of operation. Starting in March of the following year, he wrote what was to be the first of many Verheiden/Dark Horse comics based on the 20th Century Fox film-series '' Aliens'', and comics based on the similarly licensed property ''Predator'' soon followed. Mike Richardson (born June 29, 1950) is an American publisher, writer, and producer. In 1986, he founded Dark Horse Comics, an international publishing house located in Milwaukie, Oregon. Richardson is also the founder and President of the Things From Another World retail chain and president of Dark Horse Entertainment, which has developed and produced numerous projects for film and television based on Dark Horse properties or licensed properties.
