Ed Ames
Ed Ames (born Edmund Dantes Urick; July 9, 1927), who also recorded as Eddie Ames, is an American singer and actor. He is known for playing Mingo in the television series ''Daniel Boone'', and for his pop hits of the mid-to-late 1960s including " My Cup Runneth Over", " Who Will Answer?", and "When the Snow Is on the Roses". He was also part of the popular 1950s singing group with his siblings, the Ames Brothers. Early life and career Ames was born in Malden, Massachusetts, United States, to Jewish parents Sarah (Zaslavskaya) and David Urick (aka Eurich), who had emigrated from Ukraine. He was the youngest of nine children, five boys and four girls. Ames grew up in a poor household. He attended the Boston Latin School and was educated in classical and opera music, as well as literature. Traditional pop (also known as classic pop and pre-rock and roll pop) is Western pop music that generally pre-dates the advent of rock and roll in the mid-1950s. Jim Foglesong
James Staton Foglesong (July 26, 1922 – July 9, 2013) was an American country music producer and executive from the 1950s until the 1990s, based in Nashville, Tennessee. Biography Foglesong was born in Lundale, West Virginia. As a teenager, he sang on a local radio show and in quartets and trios into his young adult years. He began his career in the music industry at Columbia Records' label in 1951, transferring 78 RPM records into LP formats. Over the next 20 years, he worked for RCA-Victor until moving to Nashville in 1970 to head the A&R division at Dot Records. He was named president of Dot in 1973 — the only president of a major Nashville label at the time, where he changed the company's vision from pop to country. He helped lay the foundation for the country music boom in the 1990s. By March 25, 1967, ''My Cup Runneth Over'' had already sold three times as many copies as the Ames Brothers had ever sold. The album peaked at number four on the ''Billboard'' 200 on April 22, 1967. The music was composed by Armand Canfora and Joss Baselli with lyrics by Michel Jourdan. In English the lyrics were written by Mort Shuman.
